Web 2.0 confusion

Hi, is using VPN or different IP safe when creating web 2.0 properties?

I was reading some threads, some say different IP not required and some say it's good to have VPN. Even Nathan gotch on his article regarding Web 2.0 mentioned to use VPN.

Do you use VPN when creating web 2.0 for your main site?

If it's Google property like Blogger or Google Sites, yes, you should be hiding your footprint with some sort of VPN
If not (like wordpress.com) it doesn't care much.

You only need to use a VPN when creating Web 2.0's if you are going to be creating more than 2-3 from each Web 2.0 property

For example, if you were just creating one or two each of Wordpress.com, Tumblr.com, Ello.co , hatenablog.com , mystrikingly.com, webador.com etc . - you would NOT need to use a VPN or proxy....

If , however, you were planning on busting out 15 weebly.com, 10 website2.me's, 10 over-blog.com etc from the same computer - yes proxies and /or vpn become necessary or you will just get all of your accounts flagged by the individual platforms based on account creation velocity - a dead givaway for spam...

Has nothing to do with Google or Web 2.0's being in any way risky

You only need a VPN so that Web 2.0 is not blocked because the providers do not allow multiple accounts. It makes sense at the provider level, but has no impact on SEO (unless it's about blogspots, etc.).

Its always better to use a VPN when you deal with multiple properties
Use something like Windscribe

There are 2 reasons why people mention VPN/proxies to created web2.0's.

One is related to staying hidden from google. This applies to its own properties (blogspot for ex) mostly.

The other reason is when you create tons of web2.0's on the same platform, you need new footprints (ip, cookies).

I get the point.

Also, can you explain why proxy should work? I mean using VPN you can change your IP on the go. VPN allows you to use many ips. While on the other hand if I buy a single proxy IP and use it to create say 20 web 2.0 on blogger or mystrikingly etc, that's again a single IP risk, isn't it?

Great Question! The answer is twofold:

1) You wouldln't use one proxy fro 20 accounts on the same platform - you might MAYBE use 1 proxy to create 3-5 accounts PER PLATFORM (3-5 mystrikingly, 3-5 mypixieset, 3-5 Jimdo, etc)
2) You wouldn't be buying just one at a time - most of the time you would be getting them in packs.. for cheap - newipnow (dot) com for example sells 10 for like $8 (and NO I don't own that site, know the owner, nor am I in anyway incentivized to mention them)

Many thanks for this reply. You just confirmed me what I myself was assuming it should be.

1) But, the answer 1 itself created another question in my mind.

If its the matter of just creating 3-5 blogs on each platform, then why even I should use proxy or VPN? Wouldn't my ISP (home optical fiber) just sufficient to handle the task?

What I am thinking is, Creating 3-5 web 2.0 on each platform (except blogger), then restarting the router. That way new IP wil be generated (I believe it is the C and D address which will change). Then again creating 3-5 web2.0 on each platform.

In this way, Will there be any issue or potential to get my blogs down by the platforms?


2) I don't know the answer of the above, but still if VPN or proxy is a must, then, from economic point of view, isn't it better to subscribe for a VPN (i don't know which is best, but say ipvanish, nord, express) rather than buying proxy?
