Web 2.0.. anyone explain?

Hey, been dabbling in all areas of internet marketing for a while but really trying to buckle down now and go all out.

I'm not doing anything that requires article writing, but I read that it was "dead" because of web 2.0..

What exactly is Web 2.0? What methods work in Web 2.0 and why don't old methods work?

Try going to a few examples of web 2.0 sites, and register an account you can see for yourself what they are.

They are basically used to create contextual backlinks (look it up if you don't know that term) which is a valuable kind of link because it can be surrounded by niche relevant text. So they're good for seo and click through traffic if you know how to do it properly.
Creating backlinks on web 2.0s are in no way dead if that is what you are referring to. Though you usually get a personal collection for articles on a subdomain which has pr and other metrics as n/a at first, but it can be boosted by adding tiers (tiered linkbuilding) to it and thereby boosting the link you have placed.
Look up Matthew Woodwards advanced tiered link building tutorials if you want to dive into it as that'll give you a strong fundation.
