Curious on everyone’s take these days on the best practice for anchor text on Web 2.0 sites. Do you guys mainly do brand+keyword? Curious on this and never hear much in podcasts on this subject.

Thank you all!

You sure meant to say best practices in 2018?

If these are manual web 2.0 with unique and original content then I do about 60% keywords, 20% brand/naked URL, 20% generic.

If these are automated/manual but with spun or rewritten content then I do about 20% main keywords, 20% brand, 30% naked URLs and 30% generic.

I use only Brand/naked/generic, seems to work okay, google gets the picture cause my kws are in the content/h1s/titles etc

I use spun web2.0s and web2.0s with good content(rewritten using top3 results for the keyword)

For spun :
I use :
30% : url
30% : brand
10% : partial match
10% : partial + brand
10% : long tail keyword
10% : general terms.

For good content (1500words mostly):

20% brand
20% url
10% general
40% long tails of all kinds
10% brand + keyword

I usually use main keywords on my pbns/pbns I buy. Has worked well for me till now.

Will work well in future as well.

You can do variations like 20% main kw, 50% domain such as (raw urls and variations), 20% brand, and 10% generic. It's a best form of practice to diversify your anchors.
