Weaker PBN - Better result? Is this possible?

Hello.
I'm trying to rank an easy KW.
One of my competitor is #3 of this KW. He use 5 PBN and have put his sites on a lot of weird sites directory. He don't have any social.

I'm using 7 PBN to rank the same KW. My PBN own more backlinks than the PBN of my competitor and own a better TF/CF ratio. Still my money site is #20. Never used sites directory.
Also my sites load faster than him (1,5 seconds faster) and I did a lot of on-site optimization.

So why I'm at #20? I'm building backlinks from September.

Too many factors to say. Maybe his onpage is better, maybe your onpage sucks, maybe your anchor text ratio is poor, maybe his domain has more age or DA. He might have more links than you know. Maybe his PBNs are seo crawler blocked.
 
Maybe he has a bigger PBN, with some websites excluding known crawlers.. he must have a hidden backlink power somewhere
 
7 PBN links in 4 months? That's the next-level drip feeding. There are many other factors rather than Backlins, if the KW is easy and there is no need for a lot of BLs to rank for it, then if you have a similar number of BLs as your competitor (and can't add more), you should focus on on-page. Maybe his domain has more authority, maybe he is much more aged... a lot of factors can determine your situation. Your backlink profile does not seem to be much better than his (better yes, but not MUCH better)

I was about to say this. USING spyder spankers or anti crawlers is almost a standard practice these days. Can't trust MOZ or AHREFS to give you the full picture these days.
 
There's a lot of random ranking factors that go on behind the scenes. I've outranked competitors before who've put a lot more effort into their sites than I have so there really isn't much you can do other than build more links. This is assuming your site is optimized correctly though.
 
Check your anchor diversity and add more articles to increase relevancy. how old is your site? I believe Indexed time is a factor where articles indexed 10 months above will get the full benefit. :)
 
His website and backlinks are aged, while yours are new. Thats the whole reason.
 
Don't underestimate those crappy directory links. I've seen some weird shit lately. Is like pr is back or something.
 
Get more links and check your on-page SEO buddy!
 
There are many factors to consider in trying to rank a KW. For the backlinks, quality matters more than the quantity. Aside from the TF/CF ratio, a high TF, PA and DA are additional factors. Having a good on-page and off-page SEO strategy can also help the site rank well.
 
I have a site thas has 10 articles and only 2 blogspot links and it ranks above competitors with hundreds of links. Its odd, but true. However in most cases increasing number of backlinks is best option to increase rankings.
If you have the budget buy one link from news site that is included in google news list.
+Trust is important. Could be that those weird directory sites are old and google loves them.
