I love the idea of organizing and mobilizing people for a cause. But the cause is usually the most important variable.
To mobilize people, the end goal needs to be very clearly articulated.
Whether you realize it or not, a book of this scale.... if executed in detail to perfection... would merely be a form of wealth redistribution. There's no way in hell I'm writing every little detail I've learned about Local SEO (what I'm good at) to go hand off that knowledge for benefits unforeseen to myself.
If I was gonna do that I'd put it on my own blog and monetize it for myself. Just cause I have more faith in my ability than the collective ability of a crowd of self proclaimed experts.
Then there's the mere politics of it. Take for example SEO. Who would be the expert there? He with the most popular sales thread? Or he who actually knows the most? Cause there's a difference and when the wrong "experts" are chose it has a way of contaminating the entire end product.
What I would suggest is that members merely be proactive and contribute more. Warrior forums been slipping down 1 giant shithole. I was over there a few days ago and saw a thread full of old members, guys I'd never expect in my life, talking about how shitty the forums become. The reality is, it has become a shithole. A lot of members on BHW can say that. What's funny though if you say that here (about here), the reaction is different. I think cause this forum is more intimate. You'll see mods deny it. Then members deny it. Which can lead to a slipperly slope where everyone might be denying something that needs to be more critically looked at.
I'm not saying BHW is slipping or getting worse. What I'm saying is when your top competitor begins to slip, in a forum context, will that create competition? Or will it do the opposite? WF gets fucked up... what incentive does BHW now have to keep it's standards high? To get more moderators on board? To make sure off topic threads are consistently put in the right section? To make sure certain threads are getting closed? Or that certain biases (from the top) aren't bleeding down into the forum? Like when a moderator proudly breaks a rule that noone else would be allowed to break? And not a single mod says a word as I saw happen yesterday.
I'm ranting now. But what I'm ultimately trying to say is we members run this forum. I love this forum. I want to see better threads. Better information. Less trolling. More serious and meaningful discussions/contributions. Members getting along better. But that really starts with me. It starts with you. We all collectively have to try our best to keep BHW thriving with value. That's all I can say.
