i said it does not work for most people because u really need a lot of websites to promote to get the best results

No offense, but considering your signature, it doesn't surprise me that you put email marketing as #1 and post negative remarks in regards to anything else. Maybe you are a little bit too biased.

Quite a good non-illegal way is just to post your URL in loads of comments on blogs and websites, then google finds there are lots of tracebacks to your URL, therefore giving you a better page ranking and traffic!

What about image traffic? Use clever alt tags and a clever image title and then people searching for that kind sort of image will come to your site. This is good if you can make an image called "Brad Pitt" or some other celeb name...
or perhaps if you have a picture of a 20 dollar bill... people search for crap like that.
Now, SEO, PPC... those are well established methods that bring in loads of traffic when done right... the OP is a bit confused me thinks.

Get links to your site on other sites related to your site.
That is where targeted traffic will come from (period)

Google and other search engines will rank you mostly based on how many backlinks there are to your site.
And you'll get traffic from the search engines if you rank well.


- Obtaining Backlinks -
A signature on a forum can be a back link (so long as it is not a no-follow link)
So one of the best ways to get direct links to your site, by yourself, is to join forums
related to your site, and post meaningful posts with your signature when you can.

Posting comments on web 2.0 blogs related to your site is another way for you to build links.

You can send emails to the webmasters of other sites and request that they put a link to your site on theirs.

Create free blogs with related content that have links to your site.
There are many places to make a free blog.

Use images with clever names so people searching for those images may get to your site. Celeb names, names like "pizza", "money", "health", "Brittany". Make a picture section in your site if you want, just to give away free pictures... and name all kinds of pics different things. Be sure to create an index page that would link to each image with a descriptive alt tag, and its best to do such a page in xhtml.

Those would be the traditional ways, and they yield the best results for real targeted traffic. But are not really fast.


Fast backlinks can be made with scripts and software... there is another BHW thread that goes over a php script to get links from the major web directories.
I think it's called "script to get 70 plus links..." there are a lot of good threads here on this forum about backlinks.

And then there are places like where you can get almost "instant" traffic. But that traffic is not targeted and is pretty much useless.


For real targeted traffic you just have to stick to the ways above and eventually you'll get some good traffic.
