Ways to generate traffic?

Can anyone please recommend some methods to get traffic in the video game niche?

I tried facebook and google ads but they wont accept my ads because my site is a membership site I think. I currently use social media and been slowly link building. Any easy ways out there to get video game traffic?

Go to forums relating to your game, I game heavily and only use gamefaqs and IGN (try paid advertising on those). If your selling games post on Craigslist games for sale section. Make friends with people in MMO RPGs and tell them to check out your website.

have to agree with him bcoz so many gamers on YT and so many gaming channels that you can use to monetize your site. Create a channel around the game you are thinking of targeting and do proper on-page SEO and stuff...there are also many gaming advertisers which is the next step once you gain views and followers.
 
Create a side website with a similar niche, rank it on Google and write about the your other site. Drive traffic from one site to the other. This side website will act as a SEO buffer too! :)
 
Youtube. Even if you don't want to put in the effort of uploading playthroughs, there are other videso you can make.. For e.g. You could make a 'best of' compilation. Be creative. There's a lot of ideas you can implement here.
 
Your best bet would be video sharing sites. Don't limit only to YT ..There are lot of other sites you can use.
 
Just advertise man! If you play League of Legends, after a game just put your websites link in... some people may look and join. Just small things like that.

I know you guys are all saying Youtube, but it seems like EVERYONE is doing youtube gaming videos now and the chances of someone just coming across my videos are very slim. Does anyone know of any youtube SEO guides out there or ways to rank your videos better to maybe make youtube worth my efforts?
 
Youtube, Facebook groups (Game Addicts, Gamers, Video Game Fans etc.), Twitter, Tumblr.

Ofcourse you can do SEO but then you would need to target keywords like: *niche* game or best *niche* game.

If the goal is to get traffic then you must use as many methods as possible. Relying on just Youtube or something else is not enough. The more methods you use for generating traffic the better. You might need to spend a lot of time to build an online presence on forums and social media sites but that is what it takes to succeed - at least a first!
 
Social Media Marketing is one of the best source to generate more traffic on your blog because almost all of the internet users have at least one social account like Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and many others... so keep in touch with all of the international and local social networks to generate more traffic..... :)

I do use social media to send traffic to my sites, but it is a lot of work for little traffic return and I even use bots to automate all the work. I think scaling up to 10+ accounts per social network and using bots would be the only way to drive real traffic from social media, unless you have a very popular page already.
 
Youtube. Make your own Video + Comment to other's video. It will give you Huge Traffic.
 
Try guest blogging and blog commenting. you can also use social media by advertising.
 
Youtube is key for gaming I would say, can make in game footage and talk during it and mention your website etc
