Way to scrape old domains content?

I had a competitor for the longest time.. they had far more content than me, but I just tried visiting their site and it's down. Their results aren't showing in the search engines for any keywords they used to rank for, nada!

All of the articles I plan to write, they have already written in the past to some degree, so I was wondering if there was a way to scrape all of the content from their site, then just edit it and rewrite it to use for my own site.

Any ideas?

You can use some tools like (web.archive.org) to scrape content. You should edit and modify, make it undetectable to avoid copyrights issues. It should be in readable form and should make sense to user.

Have you made sure that the domain already ceased? I'd like to agree with the point above. Although these articles come from most likely an expired domain, you should still have these modified to avoid copyright issues.

Yes you can do it but do not copy the content and you read all the content and rewrite the content.

First things first, try to find out the reason for their downtime. Did the hosting expire or the domain? Try Googling it if the website was big enough in your area.

Then, if you think the website is down but the company is active, see if there are chances they might come back if everything is shut then move to Wayback machine.
Or take the help from the member above and scrape all their articles.

But wait, they were already indexed a few days/weeks ago so we try to modify them with a spinner. Spend a few bucks on a quality spinner and now you've tons of quality content ready to be posted! Schedule all those articles in a span of a few weeks/months and you should be good to go.

try archive.org you will not get all the content but at least some of them

check the domain expirations, and snatching up the domains when they are not renewed or otherwise copy the content and use spinners & content scrapper, then modify it and use it on your website.
