Was there another algorithm update this morning?

Same, I had one that I had given up on, and it's now back to being ranked on for what it was normally. I suspect it was because of social media dripping.

My sites that dropped in ranking were the ones that had social media dripping from addmefast. My web 2.0 properties that had fake social media likes dropped too. The sites that went up for me are sites that have 0-5 real shares with no artificial likes.

Wierd results. I didn't even think google was looking at this metric for ranking purposes. It might just be pure coincidence though.

Bump for info on how the disavowing tool is penalizing sites?

One of my web 2.0 pages just hit page one position one in front of the vendors website - whoops. I had been ranking on the first page for some time, just not in first place. I don't think it's going to last. But I'll take it.

Sites are getting penalized due to the disavow tools. Happened to me. My sites dropped and didn't jump back..

Isn't it designed to help you get rid of crappy links which should help your site?

Quite simply, it's a trap!

Say you disavow 100 trashy looking backlinks, then another 1k webmasters also do the same as you... Google has just effectively cloud-sourced a list of thousands of potentially spammy domains that they can then go and penalise, something which they have been totally unable to do until this tool was released.

I have not used disavow tool till yet but wanna know something about that, anyone? :)

Whoa, sneaky!

But what if the spammy links are comment spam on an otherwise good blog? That domain is fine, it's just the owner forgot to turn off comments.

Drop in ranking is quite common. Check this for Google algo update details.

Something is definitely going on. Went from #9 to not ranked at all. Not worried though, rankings should be back to normal soon.

Google do not differentiate between the innocent and the guilty, in their eyes you're guilty until.... well, eternity.
