Hi,
I was on a vacation for 15 days & 3 days ago when I got back I saw that everything which had been making money online was gone.

I GOT HACKED

My Story: (Long Story Short)
I have been into Internet Marketing from past 3 years now. I own only 2 websites. One of the website had been making me $350-$400 per day from Adsense using my own unique method. The other site which I recently purchased had been making me nearly $15-$20 per day using CPA (MaxBounty) the method which I use on this site is not unique but worked out to make a small income.

I have never created more than one email account. I only have one gmail account as there was never a need to create more.

Being a internet marketer I need to create accounts on various website online. So I always use Roboform to save my password & I always use Password Generator to create different password for each website.

My biggest mistake I always did is never took back up seriously.

3 days ago when I got back home I saw that everything was gone. The password of my gmail account is changed, all my website files in my hosting account is deleted, all the important files which I had on my hard drive is deleted, my roboform data file is deleted, I have 2 VPS & nothing is found in my VPS.

I am completely doomed.

I wish I could have taken back up of everything. I have learnt my lesson and I request all fellow members to please make a habit of taking back ups.

I am sure you all will tell that I can get everything I have lost. I tried everything I could & I could only recover something which is really not important.

About Roboform -
Roboform stores all your data file in "My Documents" folder which was deleted. I now realized that Roboform has an option of saving all the data files online which I never created. I am so used to Roboform that I never had to remember anything apart from the master password. I had enable Roboform everywhere but not Roboform online. Even the passwords to my VPS was stored in Roboform.

About Gmail -
The only password I remember is my gmail account password as I have created several years ago. I was so lazy that I never added my phone to my account nor I had a secondary email address added to it. I don't even remember the answer of my security questions. Every time I logged to my gmail account, it always asked me for my phone number & I always ignored it. I could have got the password of my gmail account if I never ignore that part. This gmail account had details about everything that I had purchased online, SEO tools, VPS details, courses purchased online & everything else. Even my adsense account is linked to this gmail account. I have wrote a mail to gmail & adsense about my situation & I still yet to receive any reply.

About hosting -
I am sure you people will tell contact your hosting company & ask them to restore. I had been using hosting provided by hostgator. The 1st thing I did was contacted them to restore my files & explained everything that had happen. After they restored I realized that there was nothing to resort. Hostgator takes a backup every week. I got hacked 2 or 3 days after I left (assumption) & I checked 15 days after I got hacked. Hostgator restores only how your hosting account was on the previous week & not your preceding previous backup. I was almost on tears when I realized this.

About recovering files on Hard Drive -
I used every application available online to recover the lost files on hard drive. I was happy to see that my roboform data files were getting recovered but when I opened them it was corrupted. Most of files which were successfully recovered are images & few files which are not of much use.

About my computer -
My computer is always kept on 24/7 as I run applications like SenukeXcr, No Hand SEO, GSA Ranker, Bookmarking Demon and so on. Before leaving for the trip I had left my computer ON as it will running few of my campaigns.

None of the above would have happened if I had an habit of taking back up everyday. I am writing this because I don't want any of you to suffer same as what I going through. So please make a habit of taking back up everyday.

The biggest problem now is not that I got hacked but is about my expenses. As I had been earning really good online I started to make some commitments & I just have some pennies remaining in my account. I have one questions for you people.

Should I go after the people who did this to me or just forget it & move on ?

What do you think about the possibility that when you left... someone close to you entered in the house and as the computer was running, he/she did all this??? You can't ignore that fact too as you were away from home.

No, I never said someone dropped into my house & did all this.. I recently realized that there is some sort of a virus which can control your computer remotely. Here is a link: http://computer.howstuffworks.com/question179.htm

Sorry you got hacked. Here's how you can recover from that.

http://archive.org/web/

there's your old websites, download them and get them working or pay someone to do it since you were earning $400 a day.

Yeah back ups are really essential.. I too have lost some data in the past and it costed me quite a lot. my situation was not as bad as yours but I now know the importance of having back up and security measures for money making projects.

if the there's a possibility of getting your data by going after the perpetrators then go for it but if not, just start rebuilding afresh.

All the best.

Didn't you have the Antivirus installed?? Your story has freaked me out as I am also like you... I take backups on a monthly basis but after reading this, I will start taking them weekly.

You can piece together your old website from Google's cache if you have to. it'd be crude ... but sounds like your #1 priority is to get your money site back up and operational. With no backup of your site, you type site:domain.com in Google and 1 by 1 you save every page to its old URL as plain old html ... just get it up again asap so you can make money.

As long as you have access to your domain and a simple hosting account, get yourself going again with your domain asap to get your money flowing. Worry about perfecting things again once you have your income coming back in.

i recently bought external hard drive for backup purpose as i don't trust my laptop hard disk at all (who knows, the virus comes in and corrupt all the files!!)

I also take my backup on Google drive which is my account secured with my mobile number (2 way security).

I have also installed antivirus and malwarebytes and i always scan the folders which are having downloaded files on daily basis (whenever i get free time)

I never thought about all this until i started earning some bucks online. Can't see any single penny go for this kind of shitty reason!

To OP, i'm sure that you've learned your lesson and started taking all the precautions now. If you are working daily then the backup should be there on DAILY BASIS.

maybe you can contact your host and recover your files ? for you pc try to restore it.. and also you can avoid rdp attack by disabling your remote desktop connection

We guys should learn something from you.

If you have downloaded anything like s/w or whatever, you must have malware RAT or keylogger who stolen your data.I suggest to format your PC and install some good AVs anti malwares as well..if you need remote help add me on skype..

If you're not at all able to recover your passwords and websites you could always do negative seo on your sites and work on a different project. If you did it once you can do it again.

contact your host they will recover your files. (every host has a backup )
but , if he/she was able to delete your sites then he will be able to send your domain from your account to his.

your site is down ? if you will have access to 400/day site , will you destroy it or steal it ? looks like a fake story any way your host will have a backup contact them.

Ensili I'm Extremely Sorry After Reading Your Freaking Story.. Havin' No Back Up is Really So Careless Of You..
I Wish Things Turn Good To You And May You Recover All Your Hi Jacked Stuff .. And Once You Get It Back Never Repeat Your Mistakes & Be Careful ..
Best Of Luck

Sorry to hear what you experienced. I don't mean harsh but....
But banking $400/day, that's $12,000 per month, $144,000 per year.

Why didn't you take better care of your site? Or perhaps, invest on something else and not put all eggs in one basket?
