    ATTORNEY GENERAL ANNOUNCES SENTENCES OF
MOTHER & DAUGHTER IN NIGERIAN INTERNET DATING SCAM

A mother and daughter who used an internet dating scam to steal $1.1m (£700,000) have been jailed for a total of 27 years.

Denver-based Karen Vasseur, 63, and daughter Tracy, 42, tricked victims into thinking they were talking to US service personnel looking for love.

The Vasseurs stole more than $1 million dollars from 374 victims throughout the United States and from 40 other countries.

“Not only did this mother-daughter duo break the law, they broke hearts worldwide,” said Colorado Attorney General John Suthers.
“It is fitting that they received stiff sentences for their unconscionable crimes committed in the name of love and the United States military,” continued Suthers.

Tracy Vasseur received a 15-year sentence with the Department of Corrections (DOC) plus five years parole.
In addition, she received a four year DOC sentence with three years parole to be run consecutively for a total of 19 years.

Karen Vasseur was sentenced to 12-years with the Department of Corrections (DOC), plus five years parole.

She falsely represented to victims that she had inherited millions of dollars from a military friend in Nigeria and would able to provide them with unsecured loans if they would pay an origination fee upfront. Vasseur never provided the loans yet kept thousands of dollars in payments.

"Not only did this mother-daughter duo break the law, they broke hearts worldwide," police said.

Colorado authorities said the pair ran an operation which included several other members who have not been caught.
This "staff" would do the leg work of targeting potentially vulnerable people on popular social media sites or dating services.

Once a victim appeared ready to pay, they were instructed to transfer funds to the two women who posed as "military agents".

One transaction was as high as $59,000.

Although the pair were responsible for administering the scam, the court said the majority of the money was quickly passed on to other accomplices across the world.
Money was most frequently sent to contacts in Nigeria, but also to individuals in the UK, India, UAE and Ecuador.

OK GLT, but where are these photgraphs?

Oh, the photographs, well here they are, imagine if you were chatting to these on the phone? LMAO

I heard about this story a while ago, but not the full thing. People really do disgraceful things just to make some money. And are you sure the first one is a woman ;)

Is it just my laptop screen or does the second picture look like someone has shot their load on her nose?
