Hopefully someone can shed some light on this.

I recently found a good supplier of adult toys etc. And have been selling them on ebay uk. Made 3 sales in a couple of days with 0 feedback so was pretty chuffed until ebay took down one of my items; a vibrator.

Now I know technically you're not supposed to sell sex toys on ebay but you only have to search for vibrator to see how many people are..

I chose the same categories as those who are selling lots of toys and my description wasn't offensive.

So i'm wondering what raised the flags? Anyone have any tips for what i'm doing? I am using the free seller account just now, could it be anything to do with that?

Cheers

i am surprised to see this, sex toys is nothing obscene,is no porn,is something legal that is even sold on shops, why would anyone flag you?i am also amazed how many avoid working with adult sites, they react like adult/porn is something that they never heard off , they never allow adult sites on their service.i can make sure i rank adult site same way that everyone here rank non adult sites.sorry,i might be a bit off topic but lots of people here are ridiculous hypocrite

I suspect the competition does this. I know people who had products in other categories removed without a single reason.

Thanks guys, yeah it's pretty frustrating when others are selling items with names like 'anal gspot orgasm dildo' !

I did wonder if someone had flagged me.. I'm just not sure what to do next. Bad idea to relist the same items with a slightly different name?

On the one hand I don't want to lose my account but it was going well so I don't want to give up either..

Definitely a bad idea to relist the item, even with a different name. If found out then your account would be toast for repeating the same violation. I don't sell on ebay UK but I just checked and there doesn't appear to be an adult category. Is that true? I do occasionally sell adult items on ebay US and we have a separate (and somewhat hidden) section for that - all adult toys are perfectly fine to be sold there. Maybe consider expanding to ebay US if possible? Or just make an additional account where you can sell these "risky" items so you don't have to worry about your main account.

Yeah there's no adult section.. US might work but I currently have a good UK supplier so might complicate things to try to expand overseas. The thing is I don't have anything but adult items to sell! I guess I'm just going to have to be careful with my wording etc. I take your point about not relisting the same item though, cheers!

You were selling high risk items on an account that didn't have a good selling history.

f you haven't done anything wrong that you know of (like violated one of their policies or something) then you need to contact them, because it might be some kind of glitch they need to fix. But if you did mess up somehow, you just have to wait it out or try to make amends somehow so that you can list normally again. Shill bidding basically means you and a friend (or you on two different accounts) have a thing going where you bid up one another's items to make them sell for a bigger final price, and if you've been doing that then this means eBay has caught you and is onto you now. If not, maybe you need to contact them and let them know they were incorrect.

Yeah I guess so.. So all the people selling sex toys by the hundreds on there are taking a big risk? I assume once you have a good selling history ebay pays less attention to what you're doing?

Cheers

You were undoubtedly flagged, probably by a competitor who is advertising in the adult section. There is an adult section in the usa. My account is over 10years old with 100% feedback and it has happened to me.

Yes eBay looks at new sellers with a magnifying glass extensively to make sure you have not been previously banned or are selling counterfeit items.

Also when making a new account if its not from eBay all it takes is one single complaint from a competitior for eBay to dump you because new accounts are so vulnerable.
