Yes, I have this in the new interface... damn this sux.
 
I just checked my google account and it dosen't seem like they've implemented it yet on my account. I'm wondering why they would update their system for only half of their user's.
 
WHAT !!! This is smart ! Like that people will not be able to see the email messages
 
The greatest affect would be to only those individuals that exclusively use gmail as their main email.

Now depending on your target market I think many of us would be going after B2B vs B2C, which that latter are more apt to have a gmail account than the former.

Just create amazing email marketing, target the right buyers and this should be a non-issue.
 
I've had the promotion tab for a couple of weeks. It will affect those who check their GMAIL online, but I haven't seen it affect the inboxing in my mail account.
 
If you want to enable this feature, just choose "configure inbox" from your settings in the upper right (the gear icon).



I think it's pretty cool, personally, if you're already good at mailing gmail you'll understand why this change is pretty positive.

I tend to think that people will simply get used to changing their settings via
"Configure inbox" option,
and the Primary will become the norm as people will not wish to check that the filter has not
allowed an important email to slip through, hence they will uncheck all options.

Time will tell though, but it might not be all bad news :)
 
Gmail finally made the switch to tabs for me. It looks like they were labeling the emails for some time. I personally don't like them trying to group the emails for me. I'd rather have everything in one list so I can go through, delete the crap, then read the important things. Either way, it's easy to turn this feature off.
 
Yeah it's going out in full, my wife got it yesterday and I see it today.

I just got mine today. Im on my own list for aweber and the message it sent went to promotions(sucks). But I have gotten messages that are obviously with an autoresponder and they made it into my personal....how are they doing it?!

The answer's in the headers.
 
I heard something about that before too. So how would you go about removing whatever it is in the headers? I guess you cant if you are using aweber, icontact etc? What to do?
 
Another option is don't send emails to gmail users and use other providers...Theres hundreds

I see opportunity! Just figure out the algorithm to get inside the "Primary" mailbox instead of the "Promotions" and BANK!!! (easier said than done, I know).
