WARNING! Check Your Hostgator Domains!

Yeah you have to change your name servers at namecheap or wherever your domains were bought. They are temporarily hosting your content for you, but if you update the site, you see it won't show up unless you update your name servers :)

update to the NEW name servers they provided? or leave them at the old name servers?

how long does it take from when I update the name servers for them to work again? I updated mine 10 minutes ago and they are still down... :(

mine started working within 10 minutes of me changing the dns numbers back to the original setup. but things are still running slowly.

I'm glade i didn't use their services when i was tempted too !!!!

I was in the chat for billing, and it was an hour wait. Then I was in the chat for another two hours because they were helping other people at the same time. They said they were having pretty bad service issues and that is why I had to wait so long.

Haven't had any go down, but I do have a fresh install of wordpress (its still on the basic page with the introductory post and zero plugins whilst I write content)on a new hostgator bought domain thats taking about 30 secs to appear if I go to it.

Okay, all my sites with Hostgator just went down... They asked me to change the DNS a week ago, so I did. How does changing back to the old settings work? I mean they said I had 5 days to change or the sites would go offline.

Got all my sites back up..only took a week of fucking about. Unless they havent hit the turbo switch yet on my new server then it is drastically slower than my old server. I will keep using them for general hosting but will have to move some of my bigger sites to a dedi.

Fucking pissed off. I'm in chat and they seem clueless about what to do... "This seems to perhaps be on the server side".

I have no problem with their customer support exler , but I moved to hostwinds its much better

I found them clueless on the chats. They started to tell me it was my fault and I needed to reinstall all my old backups etc.

I got a result from going into billing and opening a ticket. I was polite but detailed and explained that my sites worked just fine last week and I would like that situation to resume without me having to mess about doing tech support. Took them a few days and like I say still unhappy with the new server speed but they did at least seem to get the sites live again.

Everything is back up for me after he got the monitoring department to look at my server. That's my first major problem with HostGator, so I will let it slide lol.

Are you using a caching plugin or cdn ?
You may have to reconfigure those.
My sites on HG are still a little slow but giving it a little time to see if the servers get up to full speed.

All my sites are up now and the speed is back to normal.
For those that still struggle just change your DNS nameservers - I did it on namecheap - and after a couple of days everything worked like a charm.
