warning! anyone using bit.ly to shorten affiliate links

I have been doing article marketing to sell CB products. I have been using bit.ly to shorten my links, I thought it had been working fine. However I just went to test a link on one of my new articles and I got a bit.ly warning page
The link you requested has been identified by bit.ly as being potentially problematic. We have detected a link that has been shortened more than once, and that may be a problem because:
  • Some URL-shorteners re-use their links, so bit.ly can't guarantee the validity of this link.
  • Some URL-shorteners allow their links to be edited, so bit.ly can't tell where this link will lead you.
  • Spam and malware is very often propagated by exploiting these loopholes, neither of which bit.ly allows for.

I have just gone and check and ALL my links in all my articles have this same warning message! It says its because I have shrunk the same link more than once. Which isn't striclty true as I have different clickbank tracking id's on them. Anyway I've got a days work sorting this out - lucky i found out today cos I am pounding out the articles and this could have been a nightmare in a week or two.

Just a quick heads up. Sure some other newbies will not have known this.

Does this happen with any other shorteners?? Can somone recommedna one to use? I need to make 3 or 4 shortened versions for each hoplink.

thanks ancliffe. do you know if I will get the same problems though if I shorten hoplinks for the same product many times?

maybe i will use a variety of shorteners just to be safe.....
 
right now the problem has stopped. bit.ly glitch? not sure what to do now. I have changed ip and cleared cookies several times and it seems ok...

maybe ill ask a friend to test some links.

anyway just be careful if your using this!

My advice don't use .tk shortener also.

I send over 1K uv daily to one of my site that i shortened using .tk

After 2 days they changed my all my .tk links in account into parking domain.

im not risking it now. its a shame as its nice to track on just one shortening service. I am going to use a different service for each of a products link now.
 
For some reason, Peerfly asked me to remove CPA links on Twitter that were cloaked with bit.ly. This occurred about 2 weeks ago.
No problems experienced with ispy.it .

thanks. isy.it bookmarked. I see its customizable too I like that feature so I can make the URL of the link look like the landing page..
 
good point u raised,i never had any problem,i use tinyurl and its works fine 4 me:))
 
i am using my own url shortner because if any time that affiliate ban me i will redirect traffic to another offer

I stopped using them when they removed the feature of deleting the links.
Now bit.ly links cannot be deleted.
 
I use my own. I set up a link shortener on a WP site of mine. Works well.
 
I know. I have lost thousands of hops because of this shit.

I feel like going on a killing spree.
 
I am in the middle of making my own short url site with all the added extras I can think of. At the moment is it up and working just as a url shortener, but currently coding up the member side of things (which allows you to delete links ;)) amongst other things that I am thinking of :)

Like you guys have found out, you can never trust a 3rd party shortener!


edit: forgot I put the URL in my sig last week!!! doh!
 
Question, why would you use url shortener? i find it better by creating new page in my web and redirect it to vendor's page. you can use meta refresh or php header.
