Warned by Fiverr - Too Funny

So I've purchased a couple of gigs from a guy on Fiverr, he does a decent job and appears to know what he is doing. He never provided me with any direct contact information so I used the "contact seller" link to see if perhaps the guy would be interested in working on bigger projects for me and my company, outside of Fiverr. We outsource a lot of business every month and although we are very happy with our suppliers, we are always looking for new suppliers to keep ourselves covered if our existing suppliers get really busy. Anyone who has worked with us knows we've been around a long time, we're loyal, we pay well and fast.

The guy reported me and we got a warning from Fiverr about trying to contact people outside of Fiverr! Now I do understand it's against their TOS and all that but really? You'd rather make $4.00 a gig instead of working on project that can pay 100X that and not take much more time?

I know the warning is just a warning and for the most part is meaningless, I guess I was just a bit shocked at the small minded thinking. Maybe he'll get an extra level for reporting me and make a few more $4.00 gigs.

I'd imagine that most sellers are worried about being scammed in such deals hence they'd rather earn their $4 and not endanger their account by contacting people outside of Fiverr.
 
He prob thought you were trying to set him up so he reported you before you could report him.
 
Offer someone more money, he reports you for that, f*ck logic.

I can almost understand that logic, but then why not just ignore me instead of reporting me?
 
Its probably in how you worded it. Like ShadeDream said, they probably fear being scammed. Some people will fear it any way it goes, but it also can have alot to do with the way you word it. I was having some work done on fiverr recently, and the person was doing a good job, so I asked him in contact seller "I have larger projects that need done, how can we go about getting that done?" (I never directly asked for his contact info, so I was protected, but anyone knows what that question means) He then sent me a file with his contact info, and from there we have worked outside fiverr.
 
The fear is of losing there fiverr account if they they get caught, and also maybe want to suck up to the fiverr mods so they get top rated seller lol

That is almost exactly the way I worded it, which is where my frustration stems from. I've had guys and gals we've worked with on Fiverr contact us afterward, asking us if there was anything else we needed and giving us their contact info. Apparently this guy is not all that smart or maybe he's making $40K a month, $4.00 at a time and I'm the idiot :)
 
Fiverr fosters a safe atmosphere for buyers and sellers, which is part of its appeal. But it also leads to denigrating direct transactions by freelancers, even though this is probably the main way most of these transactions go on the web. A way to beat Fiverr off at the pass on this would be to primarily promote your gigs off the site to begin with, bringing traffic to your gig url outside of the site's system. That way the clients will already know of your contact info and regular deals from the referring MNS or other page.

I do have to say though. If he did report me, he would no longer get my $4 lol

If I were the seller I would at least check out what was being offered to me bahahaha

Now he loses $4 hopefully lol.
 
Did you provide him with contact details? when i get sugestions like that ppl always tend to want me to send details. It's better for you to provide the details and ask him to make contact outside fiverr.
 
OP, I don't think the guy reported you. From my experience, Fiverr has a filtering system that watches out for people breaking their ToS (deals outside Fiverr). So, it's not the guy, it's Fiverr saying "hey, I hooked you two up, where's my cut?"
 
Yes, its a fiverr filter. I had the same problem with 2 of my accounts. I used 1 account like a notes to remember me an email and after I found the account reported :D

I was just about to say the same thing.

I had the same thing happen to me this past Summer when buying Twitter Accounts. I was consistently buying hundreds of Accounts from the same Seller. I got that same warning when I sent the Seller a message about doing business outside of Fiver. When typing the message, I was careful to word it properly so that any filters that they have in place wouldn't pick it up. I'm sure it was the Email address that I used in the message that triggered their filter. The wording of my Email was: myemail at hotmail dot com. Their filters probably picked up the word hotmail.
 
lol i get people like you on fiverr every day and i make 10k per month so i just ignore messages like that and sometimes report them. Once you get many orders it becomes your work and you dont want to work for custom services that will bring you 100 bucks
 
i guess so to. it would not make any sence for him to report you. fiverr has filters and the review manually. it is better to sent this in a attachment then there is nearly no danger that they catch that.

by the way can you pm the gig ?
