Im thinking java and php as people say those are most popular now and the forseeable future and with the best job opportunities.

    Is this correct?

Depends what you want to get into really - windows apps I would say look at the .net family, C# seems to be popular, as does the old Visual Basic.

If you want to do web scripting, PHP, Perl or Python.

Horses for courses really......depends what you are looking to do :)

Not sure yet. Well actually I do have an idea. Making SEO type tools I'd be interested in so what languages are good for that? As I said I want to move past zennoposter so what are good programs for that? Presumably the abovementioned windows based languages?

Go with .Net. You can use either VB.net or C#.

Oh ye another big component is what the community is like for learning from. which ones are most supportive of noobs.

One issue with zenno is the english speakers are good but theres only a couple of ppl who will help and some will start asking for money.

I like the open source idea. With html for instance it was easy to find answers to my issues on forums etc.

pretty sure you can include java in zenno projects - i might be wrong though and its just javascript, not got it installed at the min to check but maybe the OP would be better looking at that.

for windows apps though i thought .net was pretty easy to pick up and get things running. Good editor/IDE as well.

It depends on what you are trying to achieve, and yeah those are pretty good language to work with.
php is pretty powerful programming on web-development. And java for desktop applications.

buddy java and php both are different platforms.

Java is good but .net is better IMO. Many say java is good but i can really vouch that .net beats the shit out of java in all perspectives!

Specifically if you want to create bot and not too geeky and can easily understand c or c++ you can go with c# else easiest is vb.net.

if you are new to programming stuff then go with VB .net(basic) or C#(better than vb..)

I prefer java as you can run java bots on windows, mac or linux without any difficulty and java is quite powerful for multithreaded applications without eating lot of resources on any machine.

But selecting a language depends on your choice and ease of learning.

Javascript. Thanks to NPM there are tons of modules that will do the heavy lifting for you, and the language itself can be pretty forgiving.
