Want you view on unique content or dupe

Guys wanted to find out how your sites are ranking, if its better to use your time for unique or should we use our time for dupe content and see how they rank?

In my opinion it doesn't matter at all if your content is duplicate or unique. Just make sure your on page SEO is good and build a lot of links and you should be okay.

Google will not filter out your content just because it's used somewhere else.

For example, search for the lyrics of any popular song - the top 20-30 results are usually the exact same content.

I think some of it depends on how much the content is used elsewhere. I always use unique content on my money sites and it helps them rank a lot better. Autoblogs and the like are a different story though..
