After speaking to one of my friends recently, i realised something pretty significant....

After spending years trying to make an income online, countless hours spent writing shitty articles about shitty products, that quite frankly, i couldnt give a f**k about, money spent on bookmarking products, rss products, senuke, any old tool and product to make the job easier basically, i came to realise one thing...

There's a whole other world out there!!

Seriously, i bet each an everyone of us can take a step back for a moment, and be pretty taken aback as to just how many hours of your life you've wasted doing mundane tasks to better propell your online efforts...

Now i know some will defend their actions, even justify them by stating that they've made money here and made money there...., but can you really justify the hours wasted?. I read all the time about people who have ********* hours, days weeks and months to projects that have done nothing but earn them a few adsense dollars in the bank every month....

And the more reputable members would argue that once you've made your few dollars, then all you need to do is scale up and your sorted...but really, scale up?, im sure you'd have made a few mistakes along the way, financial mistakes, even strategic mistakes, that you can now avoid...but the bitter truth remains...that even taking these factors into consideration, and learning from these mistakes, outsourcing and automating these tasks still takes time and effort, and so you've got to really ask yourself if its worth it...

I once heard a saying, that people in the californian gold rush that made the most money, were not the ones who found the gold, but who were the ones that sold the maps and tools TO the gold....

Bear that in mind the next time you see something that offers all you need to succees in your online endeavours...is what your buying just another tool or map that you'll throw in the corner?...I remember buying senuke and was surprised to learn that a month later, i wasn't using it, not because i didn't believe that it would help, but because i felt a strange feeling of completition generated by knowing i had the tool. And im sure im not alone...how many tools have you bought that before you bought them, you thought...if only i had them i could.....(fill in the blanks)

So where is all this going?

Do yourself a favour. Get offline, go see some friends, do something nice for someone, take your kids out for the day, go fishing, take time for yourself.

Realise that until you actually add value to someone elses life, you will NEVER make money, not real money. Yes there are some that do, but if they can honestly tell you they enjoy promoting products and services that they do, then thats fine.

But a lot of the time people hate their current job and situation so much that ANY alternative that they find will do...until a few years later when they are staring at 100 domain names, thousands of dollars in software and an income that doesnt reflect or justify the work thats been put it, not to mention the fact that 20 hours a day on a computer doing something they have no interest in.

Find a way to add VALUE to people lives, find it by doing something you enjoy doing and not only will you make money, but you'll have a life to live too.

Thank you Indexit, for this truthful post. I absolutely agree with you. I have spent thousands of dollars through the years and countless hours learning and implementing so called systems to make some money online none of which have actually made much of a difference in my income. The most money I've ever made using Internet Marketing has been OFFLINE.

This is a great post and a good wake up call. For me, IM is just a side income but it has taken LOTS of my time to get rolling. I would never ever do it as my primary income where my bills depended on it.

Money is important to a point, for necessities and freedom, but sadly I think there are too many people dreaming of buying a retard sports car and some bling only to look like a total douchebag anyway. Take it from me, a lot of what is important in life is free anyway, friends, family, nature, etc.

So, what can we conclude from this? If you don't LIKE doing online business, don't.
However, personally I love doing what I do and would never quit it. I don't see it as countless hours wasted, I see it as a learning curve and a lot of fun still to be had.
Basically, if you're only here for the cash and not because you love working with this kind of stuff, you shouldn't be here at all.

OP seems to be focusing on people that are spending a lot of time while hardly making any money online,
and completely ignoring all the people that are making plenty of money online while spending less time than they would at a normal job.

making money is not a waste of time. it's fairly necessary for a lot of things in life.
just because some people do IM poorly doesn't mean IM isn't worth it for everyone.

also, i've seen that california gold rush quote used like 10 times already and it's f'cking retarded.
the internet can't just run out of money because everyone 'dug it all up'.

Yah i smelled a rat when i first came here and saw the place mainly filled with complete novices (myself included), and then saw some other posts saying, "i'm making 9k a month and i do it using this software".

Im sure some people fall for that stuff, but im just not that gullible, its basic logic, if you are doing something thats generating you that sort of revenue, the last thing you do is run and tell complete strangers how to do it, right?

Ive made one site, and unless i can get it to page 1 on google using the methods that are commonly thought to get sites to rank high, i'll just conclude that this whole black hatting stuff is nothing more than a farce,
setup to scam website owners into buying useless software and ebooks.

Whats even more pointless than spending time trying to make money on the internet is posting threads like this.

If you've spent a lot of time+money with nothing in return and don't enjoy it, maybe you should get out of the game....

Yes, to some people it is worth it. IM, blogging/writing is what I prefer to do full time.

Great story, I'll tell that to the guy at the bank next time I go in to cash my check....

OP - Give Up Then. Thats the best part about IM for me. I dont have any competition cause everyone gives up. Anything worth having requires sacrifice and that pays true with IM. IM is just like any other business, work your fingers to the bone, keep plugging, and it will eventually pay of 1000 fold. I used to own a steakhouse/lounge and I gave it up to go after IM. I dont even know why I am writing this post anymore. I must have smoked too much dope today. I'm rich bitch!

Actually my problem is forcing myself going online not the other way around. What keeps me going is the simple thought of getting another gold coin next week, not some shovels to resell. But yes, I like guys who think otherwise, they love to click stuff :)

Quite a few cynics on this thread. Plenty of people are making good money with tips/shares/information found on this site. A good lesson that I think the OP indirectly puts out there is the need for balance in everything you do. If you're holed up in your office in front of the computer screen all day you're missing out on a lot and not doing yourself a lot of favors. There's a time to earn the $$$ and a time to do other things that have absolutely nothing to do with IM or money.

This site has a tendency with some to pull them from one great technique to the next. People bounce around from an idea to another before they have even tried the first, leaving them frustrated, poorer and with a dim view of internet marketing. Pick something, ANYTHING, and stick with it for a while to do your best to make it work. After giving it a honest effort (if unsuccessful) or (if successful) after perfecting that idea/technique, THEN move on to something else. Build up your empire one step at a time, not all at once.

    Just my two cents.

There are far more people on this board not making money than those that are. The OP is bang on with his comment because 99% of the people here spend too much time with methods instead of focusing on the basics. Sure, there are definitely people here making money, but how many make enough to live on and save? For those that do, how many of them make that kind of money consistently and how long will it last? There are tons of threads with methods that stopped working, and suddenly people start looking for ways to "revive" them.

If you hate being online and at your PC then go work a regular job. Trying to say that no one makes money with any kinda software is just retarded I'm sorry. I've made an average of $300 a day ewhoring before spending, after initial setup of course, maybe 20mins a day reloading my spreadsheet and ordering pvas when needed. Now I'm mailing and only time I have to do anything at all is when the scrapper or mailer screws up. To me IM is all about the initial setup, do that right and you'll make money and not have to work much at all. Do it half assed and not put much thought into it and you will end up chasing your tail.

Now if you want to build websites and blogs and all that wh stuff then yes you might as well go work at mcdonalds cause you'll probably make more in the long run.

All this pride in your work, liking what your selling shit is what will keep you at that 9-5 job people. Who gives a **** if you like what your selling as long as it's making you money and you don't have to be pinned to a desk or factory job all your life?

As the old saying goes "Some say it's immoral to take a suckers money, I say it's immoral NOT to".

    Man I love that quote.

Also, there are alot of people who are into IM that should not be. If you are not making much money, and do not like what you are doing, then don't do it. Simple enough. There are alot of people who make a ton of money IMing. I am only 16 years old, and I have my own IM/SEO business and making 10x the amount of money that my schoolmates who work at mcdonalds do.
