Waiting time before linking from your new PBN.

Like the title reads. A client sent me this interesting article today:

Have heard many different answers on this during my years. Will be very interesting to hear some different opinions here.

So the scenario is this. You have just rebuilt an expired domain and added it yo your PBN network.
Do you link from it directly or wait X months/weeks to be safe.

Stay calm and keep ranking - Your friendly link juice provider.

Hi, I didn't read the blog post. I normally start posting within 1-2 weeks. Works fine for me.
 
Let's put it this way. You're new to blogging and pick up an expired domain (which you had no idea had history) and you start blogging and linking to sources you feel add value to your articles. Should Google penalize the sources? Of course not. Should someone who started a new blog wait X number of days before linking out to sources? No. So why should PBNs?
 
imo, it depends if it is an auctioned domain or a dropped expired domain; it also depends if you are keeping the same niche, keeping the same content, or not?

take the example of an auctioned domain where you put the (nearly) exact same content on your site; then there is no need to wait too long to put your links, nearly immediately.

on the other hand say you register an expired domain and you change the content completely? here I would be more cautious, some people say to wait 36 days or so, myself I would wait a few months, just to be safe;

google has said they are supposedly removing the juice of dropped/expired, has anyone seen it?
 
So everyone that recomends waiting are wrong? Like the article and the guy above you?

Matt Diggity knows his stuff when it comes to PBNs, he invests a lot of time in his guides etc too.
Some take what he says with a pinch of salt, but he does a lot of case studies too.

For me the question is not who is wrong or who thinks he is right, the question is what makes sense and what is the risk.

He did but so did I. I can't speak about expired domains because I have never tested them but as far as I'm concerned, it doesn't matter when you used auctioned domains.

It's true that Google is being a bit fascists with linking out with new domains. If you link straight away to your money site on day 1, it can have it's power a bit devalued. I did consider this idea pathetic a while ago, but it indeed seems to be true. You either need to wait a bit or populate site with content and link out to other sources first. Then, after a while, you can link to a money site. I've never had an issue with this "waiting period", because I've always waited before linking out and I've always masked my link with other OBLs before putting in my money site link.
 
I mix it up, basing it partially on how like the old site it is, same niche, rebuilt old site, etc...
 
In my experience, im played safe, I waited 6-8 weeks before I link my PBN into my affiliate site
 
For sure you should wait. Just imagine, You start a Blog and just after starting you start giving links to other sites. For sure, it will totally suspicious to Google and any other person. The best way is to Post Articles [ minimum 10 ] and then wait for 30 Days [ till then your articles will also get index naturally ]. Then start linking to your Money Sites. I use this method only!!! And the Testing of PBNs before adding them into Network is MUST!!!!

I think this is spot on - the way I look at it the more things you change (content/structure/hosting/registrar/downtime/etc) the more suspicion is placed on a domain. You can limit the changes from old to new, or you can give a domain time to settle in. The same is true whether you are repurposing an expired domain into a money site or using it for its link equity.

If my site is about horses but my shiny new PBN site was originally a Texas Steakhouse, I might not be able to shoe horn those together, so I will make the former Texas Steakhouse site about horse tackle, before linking I'll post some content and wait for google to crawl it, so they will see the relevance of the site. It will allow the content to age a bit and the giant Google computer brain to realize that Ted's steakhouse is a horse tackle company now.
