those VSL landing page videos people running on taboola or outbrain are 30minutes to 60 minutes long, i want to know users really have to watch that long video before they go for checkout?

Yep. Most of these make you sit through 30-60 mins before you ever see a price or checkout button. No fast-forward, no buy now - they want you fully hooked first. Old-school VSL stuff, but it still works.

Man I've been wondering this too. I can't believe people actually sit through all of that. I see them a lot with biz op and certain types of nutra offers. I let one play in a muted tab and forgot about it one day recently. I came back like 20-25 mins later and it was still going with no links yet and no way to skip ahead or anything either.

I guess you're filtering out a lot of people so that the only ones still watching at the end are probably people who are super interested but that's the whole point. You're probably filtering out 2-3 times as many sales from people who would've bought but don't have time to sit through the whole thing. It's kind of the exact opposite of "optimization". Lol

I have the same question. I recently started working on Nutra campaigns, and when I was doing pre-landing campaigns on major media platforms, their staff also suggested I create such a long video called VSL. I'm really curious why it still manages to generate sales.
