VPS vs Proxies: How do I find out which needs upgrading?

Ok, so I have a VPS running with private proxies, however, I'm wanting to know whether it's better me investing in more proxies/threads, or upgrading the VPS.

The VPS might be limiting the proxies' maximum speed, or the proxies might be limiting the speed of the VPS.

What's the best way to go about finding this out?

The proxies need an Aurhorized IP to use them.

To test your proxies, use them manually on your home connection and check on websites like fast.com or speedtest.

Whereas for your VPS, you should check resource usage and check if the CPU or RAMs are maxed out when you run your scripts/apps. Your VPS provider should provider a monitoring tool, if not as them for your VPS monitor's graph to see resource usage.

After you know the default speed of your proxies and the average VPS usage, you can look to either upgrade on or the other.

With regards to speedtest, do you mean using something such as FoxyProxy?

As my proxies need an authorized IP to be inputted.

Yes and no.

You can use speedtest manually, through your browser (with foxyproxy). Or you can use the speedtest cURL version from a CLI. Check it here: https://www.speedtest.net/apps/cli
