Is it a Windows or Linux VPS? With a Windows VPS all you need to do is put the IP into Remote Desktop and hit connect.

Linux VPS are normally sold without a Windows Manager installed, thus you won't be able to connect via RDP unless you install the Windows Manager yourself. Fluxbox is pretty light, but I'd advise against any WM on a VPS, as it's not needed.

If you really need some sort of GUI, try Webmin.

You will need to connect via SSH to begin with in any case.
