Which do you prefer? What do you look for in a shared hosting package? Which one outweighs the other?

Depends what you need. Don't buy Nissan Skyline if you need Dodge RAM.

setting up websites on vps is bit difficult because you don't have any control panel
so if you are experienced with such stuff then you should go for vps
its cheaper and you get better specifications

If you don't know what are you doing, go with hosting.

I've got both currently but as people have already mentioned, it depends entirely on what you require and what knowledge you have on managing your own server (if you go with VPS).

VPS should see a big increase in loading times and spec if done correctly. Shared hosting is simple to setup if you're just starting or need a cheap, basic set up.

You may try kvchosting.com or a2hosting.com.
These companies are able to meet the needs of many webmasters with specific needs, servers are supported perfectly well.
They have stable servers which work with no glitches.

What do you prefer? A reach around or a vibrating device?

Just go with the hosting. If you need to ask then most likely a VPS will be too much work for you to manage.

Go for the VPS its not hard at all to set up, you have to learn sometimes why not now!
Instal CentOS 64bit and use a ZPanel its a free and its similar like CPanel ( the cost for monthly license is $15 for VPS )

For a new affiliate website, I think I would go for shared hosting. However, if you plan to run a lot of traffic with PPV or mobile for example, you may want to look at a VPS.
