If you're talking about GSA SER, then a VPS is very useful - if you need a higher bandwith and don't want to use your local Windows desktop 24/7.

yes will be faster , also vps run 24/7 so could use it seo tools for heavy work while you are sleeping .

Do you have any specific requirement for it? How is your budget for it? If you need multi accounts, you can just buy a Dedicated server with multi IPs and then install VM to create multi VPS from it.

It can be faster but your list and project settings comes into play too, I published this post on how I choose and optimise my VPS'/Servers for SER. It gets upto around 650 LPM on a pretty cheap VPS.
