VPS beginner quesiton

I think I need a VPS. I want to reupload porn videos and use twitter supremacy on it.

But I don't understand how this VPS is used. How someone use it like a computer inside a computer and also even hosting website with that.

Can you please tell me some brief information about this VPS thing. Thanks

Think of a VPS as just a computer in a far away place. You can control it by using "remote control" software that will show its screen on your pc. If you are using Windows, you already have that "remote control" software installed as it comes with the default installation: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/...ect-using-remote-desktop-connection=windows-7

VPS stands for Virtual Private Server. So when you buy a VPS service you get access to a private space of their server with an unique address. So when you log in to your account you can use it like another computer on web browser or on a software. You should check the speed of those servers and bandwidth and other features before you you buy a VPS. For video uploading a server should have a good connection speed.

This is a computer. How it is used to host a site? I mean, How can host a site on computer?

As per my understanding, it is like, I am using a remote computer and I am going to host my site in that remote computer. Ok, will it take my remote computer space to host my site?

Say I have a 25GB HDD in my VPS, will it take that space to host my site? Damn, I am sounding like stupid. I have to learn this today. I can't be like this

In my original answer I had assumed you wanted it for bots (so I had assumed it would be a Windows VPS). For hosting, you will most probably get a Linux VPS. In that case, it will probably come with a web panel like CPanel or similar. That's a web graphical interface for you to manage everything that has to do with hosting. Just make sure not to buy a "plain" Linux VPS without a web panel because otherwise you won't be able to manually set it up.

How much space is required depends on what you are going to host. For a normal site, 2GB would be enough to cover its needs. Obviously, if you plan to host a ton of videos or images, you'll need more space.

Your assumption is right. I need to botting. But are you saying VPS for botting and VPS for hosting are two different things.

You can host on Windows if the VPS has a static IP (it should anyway) but you won't have a panel, so it will be a manual setup/administration. You can always get someone to do it for you though.

Technically, there is absolutely no difference. You can host a website on your own computer just like you can bot on your own computer, right? It really just comes down to what operating system you go with. For example, some VPS providers just offer pre-installed hosting software for Linux installations, if you choose so (like, you can get the LAMP-stack and WordPress pre-installed without doing anything at all). Knowing how Linux works for hosting a service is absolutely handy, and to be honest it's probably way easier than using a Windows VPS after getting used to it.

For bots you want Windows because they're most likely written for it.

Why do we need to pay for cp panel to be install each month from some vps seller?(window vps)

What kind of software do you have to install when you have vps because I heard that you need to install antivirus first and what about other software?

No you can t and only some seller provide Cp panel for free. Cp panel is very important for you to control the website.

Because CPanel is a commercial product. https://cpanel.com/pricing/ There are free alternatives of course, you can get a vps without it and install one of them.

I only use VPS Windows for running a bot/program non stop 24hr a day
run > remote > fill the id/pass

thank you. I saw amazon has one year free trial AWS services. Can I use Windows VPS from them to use bots and to host sites?

Never tried that.
Windows vps can only run asp code. It can't run php code.

And you need knowledge in IIS too.

Windows cant run it.

Wordpress etc that is running .php code is using LINUX server.

Maybe it can using another way. But it's complex to do it.

Hi All,
I am advertising my software exe (sized 888KB) with PPI offer with a PPI network with approx 3K installs per day and I have hosted my Software on Go daddy's VPS (VPS details below). but it doesn't seem to take the load of 10K installs even and CPU usage has hit 100% and Disk Space Usage has reached 60% and RAM is 80% Exhausted hence the exe is not working after installs.Not Sure what is the reason even though the SQL log used is only 17%. Godaddy can't seem to figure out either. can someone suggest some good server for my requirements?

Current Godaddy VPS Details:

OS: Windows
Monthly Bandwidth: 1TB/Mo
Disk Space: 40 GB
Dedicated IP : 3
RAM : 2GB
