I read in a lot of guides that you should use a VPS to install Scrapebox in, but why is that?
Why can't I install it in my PC?
Is it too resource intensive and slows it down?
Or is it just that you have to leave the PC on for hours at a time while Scrapebox works?
Is there another reason?
Also, can I buy a PC just for the purpose of running Scrapebox, instead of a VPS, or do VPS have something extra which makes them better?

About proxies. Do you need proxies only when scraping Google or do you need them when building blog comments too?

  • You can install it on your PC
  • It doesn't use many resources like any other tools but just as you mentioned most of the people use it for such tasks which may hours or even days so VPS's or RDP make sure there will be no interruption.
  • Even though Scrapebox have snapshot option still no one like to reset everything with sudden interruptions when we use on regular PC's
  • Renting a VPS/RDP is a better option than buying a new PC ( If you are planning and looking into long ...long term plan yes PC ay be a better option)
  • There will be other benefits like IP, other wifi connection things like that if we are renting an RDP.
  • Blog commenting requires proxies as well in fact you need better ones to get better results. Even though you can scrape from 42 available resources on SC still everyone uses the same so you need some dedicated proxies in some cases but mostly scrapping from public sources will be sufficient for most of the tasks.
  • You can add as many sources as you can to scrape proxies but you just need the patience to scrape and test every day. or you should have a dedicated PC or VPS just scrape and test new proxies all the time. That's not necessary for most of the cases

Great. Thank you for answering all my questions.
1 more thing I'm curious about. When building blog comments, it creates only 1 comment per blog right?
If so, then why do I need proxies? Since I'm commenting in different blogs and domains with my IP, what is the problem?

I am not so sure, I can explain in detail on this.
But Imagine there is a CF7 form on a sidebar in a site with 100 pages when you add that site to your contact form scraper it's gonna fill out the same form on all those 100 Pages that definitely make sure you look like a spammer.
With the speed that you are going to post on those contact forms if you don't use proxies you never gonna make even post on 100 contact forms.

Also like to add, imagine your internet provider was monitoring your home ip your get service ban.

There see the packets back and forth and traffic used.

You can use at home but as soon as needed for a project then move to VPS advised.

Wait, why would my ISP ban me? Because I used too much internet? I don't get it.

Because the site your commenting on could file an abuse complaint and then your ISP could refuse to sell you internet access.

It happened to me back a decade ago when I forgot to use proxies, AT&T said if I kept getting complaints they would refuse to sell me internet. So that is why proxies are a Must when posting like with fast poster. That way the proxy takes the complaint and they just swap your proxy and everyone keeps moving.
