Hey guys, I’ve got a quick question. If I’m using a VPN locally and then set a proxy in an anti-detect browser, does that improve my browsing anonymity, or does it actually increase the risk of exposure? Anyone with real-world experience care to share?

Browser anonymity depends on ipaddress and the fingerprint generated by multiple login browser. If the fingerprint is shitty like loggi browser anonymity does not work. Same with ipaddress if the vpn or proxy is shitty like windscribe or data center proxy your anonymity will be low quality.

VPN encrypts your traffic end to end whereas a proxy does not. If your goal is to hide your IP when visiting a website or connecting to a server than a proxy is what you want.

Yes, if set up don't match, it can actually increase exposure. Consistency reduces risk far more than adding a VPN on top of a proxy.

VPN does not add anonymity to the site when your browser already uses a proxy. the site sees the proxy IP. VPN only changes what your ISP can see. they see your vpn but not where u are going. VPN + proxy usually causes instability and misconfigurations. VPN only encrypts data from device to the VPN server.

use a clean stable path with strong browser/profile isolation.

running a system vpn underneath an antidetect proxy just adds massive latency and zero extra anonymity because the target site only sees the final proxy ip anyway. the real risk is if your system vpn drops for a split second, it can sever the proxy tunnel or cause weird dns leaks that actually expose your real home ip to the browser profile. just run a clean dedicated 4g mobile proxy straight into the antidetect profile and leave your local network alone.

Stacking a VPN and proxy can actually cause leaks or conflicts that make you more visible. I just use a clean residential proxy directly in Gologin and keep the setup simple. It's more reliable and way easier to troubleshoot when something goes wrong
