Hi all.

So, Penguin, we meet again.

I've been experiencing non-attributable patterns and trends with a number of sites I look after. Some up, some down. Local phrases, nationwide for example [#service in london] I've noticied a drop in quite considerably, but this is down to Possum.

I'm finding that new websites, with very small link equity profiles, once the links go up via PBN (say 3-5 per month), since Sept-23rd have taken a dramatic fall of up to 60+ positions. Some keywords have dropped fully (past page 10 of Google) and some have dropped 30 - 60 positions.

I expect it could be the diversification of link anchor texts tipped too much in favour of "money" keywords, and a broad range of diversified link anchors are required due to the small link profile these domains already hold, tipping it way over the 'threshold' point.

However for the larger sites, with 1,000's+ links from a broad array of sources, have seen an improvement on the whole.

Just sharing some stats / figures - would be nice to hear if anyone else has seen this?

It could also be the whole 'dancing' mechanism which I tend to see during the beginning of the campaign, but I haven't seen anything drastic like I've seen in the last 2 weeks or so.

Thoughts?

It's been an interesting couple of months, seen movements where sites have dropped then come back up.
I've got 2 sites which are less than 3 months old with keywords in top 10.
Had an adsense site vanish off the face of the earth.

The Moz updates saw improvements on metrics of a lot of my sites too, which was a bonus. A 5 page site has now got DA24, PA36.

There no chance getting any correct serp index data not while there a huge update going on might take months.

The update finished but all the links are dancing

Hmm - this is very strange.

Big link popularity website (over 50,000 BL), remove an entire 30 PBN links 2 days ago that have been established over the last 1.8 years (some might think I'm crazy), a HUGE jump up in rankings, ranking nationwide phrases and more.

I realise this too. I wonder is it when you got linked too much by pbn. Google able detect it and devalue your position.

When i disavow them. My rank returns.

Hmm technically we won't need to disavow, as Google mentions this is updated in "live" time.

However, over the last 11 years I've been at this game, even Google don't know what they're talking about.

I've got a few other tests running at the moment to see what's occuring.

Due to some algo changed by the google or whether you are using so much pbn and some of them got penalized....

I don't think PBN's are a problem if done right. I can confirm to you that Google still does not know what is spam and what isn't (same goes for content). People ranking crap websites with 100 sape links still works like charm for others (not for me tho).

Do you think G in 2 days can calculate in the algo your disavow? It sounds strange, and in this way it would give you instructions too precise and too fast. It would be easy to manipulate again....

Same here.. don't you think is the normal dance? I can notice it HUGE even on Google.it...

I can be rank 20, then the next moment I am N/A , then top 60, then N/A, then top 20 again.

About the live update, no one knows if its true that they only "devalue" spam than demote. Frankly speaking, before I did PBN and Diversification links, my rank was at top 20-35 and its is stable, even when google algo is running.

After I receive notice that PBN was done and diversification was done, my 2 main keyword went N/A. Part of the reason could be keyword over density, but I still checking and looking on it.

Yeah, I do believe that for 1 site, throughout the entire globe, to see that level of ranking in less than 48 hours can't be attributed to the removal of these links.

Anyone else reporting fluxes?
