Install it with VMware from a downloaded XP SP2/3 .ISO, which aren't exactly hard to find. You can even find Win 1 & 2 ISO's if just for nostalgia's sake, a glimpse at MS before they turned evil. Wait up, I meant evil-er..

You have enough memory. I have 8 gigs also, when you create a new vmware image it allocates somewhere around 1 GB ram for virtual machine, depends on your available ram and OS to be installed. I've set it to 2GB and it's flying.
Also, Vista is a bad choice, eats up on resources, better go with Win7, or XP. Plenty of those on your corner torrents shop.

The paranoid side of me says it's always a good idea to properly secure any instance of an operating system, even a virtual one. But one nice thing about virtualization is its a veritable sandbox for you to play in...if it gets infected, you can just whack the VM and re-create it from the original image.
That said, tools like sbox that parse through tonnes of websites do run across infected sites...I think the last stat I read was that there are an estimated 2 million websites infected with malware. At the least I'd throw avast's free version or if you have an extra KIS license or *something* that monitors for malicious URL's and blocks them on the VM. And if you're really concerned about security, or know you're running comment blasts into some bad neighbourhoods, run the malware addon across your target list before blasting to them.

im using vmware and have given the SB wm just 1 core of a c2d 2,33ghz and 512mb ram. Workd great.
