I have no idea, but they were both Norwegian and Opera sold later to China I think.

Tried it a couple of times but never used it any longer period though.
 
I tried two or three years ago
But I didn't like it (some bugs, kinda slow)
Used for some weeks and moved to another browser
 
don't know about vivaldi but wow what a partnership, when something like this happens is because of a big investment and who know what they might be planing and what project they will be dumping money.

Still using it, very performant - can’t decide currently between Vivaldi and ungoogled-chromium.
Love to use Vivaldi but feels a bit insecure- but at the end of the day there are 2 big Players : Google with its Chrome + derivates of Firefox.
Due to the fact that google has already control of many Users with several ways, it kind of concerns me. Would be more happy if they (Proton) would collaborate with idk librewolf of something. But libre =! Money ;-)

I used Vivaldi on mobile from around 2008 to 2012. I don’t remember the specific years in that range. Not my favorite browser tho it was similar to Opera. The reason I used it was because it was lightweight.

Well, Proton is actually a good thing, but without doing proper Research (Management changes etc), feels Like they change their Business Model.

Just a matter of time until they act like nordvpn. Cleaning already their new customers
 
I used it for a couple months and it wasn't bad. Nothing crazy though, just another Chromium browser from what I remember
 
I don't think i have used Vivaldi before. How is a browser integrated with a VPN better than subscribing a VPN on your own and using it on the system level?

It has it's pros and cons.
For example
VPN on a system level doesn't have Split Tunnel on an URL level, only IP and Apps.

My thought is more, what's the difference between using Vivaldi with "integrated VPN" vs using another browser & adding it's extension.

That's a good point. Opera still offers a free VPN in their browser. Plus, it's more reputed.

Anyone been using Vivaldi for a while and mind sharing their honest opinion?
I'm thinking moving from Brave to Vivaldi.

Simply because of the fact that Brave is US Based and Vivaldi is in Norway/Iceland jurisdiction.
