Hi,

I have a concern about something showing in analytics. I usually only get 400 UV daily. Today I got a spike up to almost 5k mostly coming from social media.

Should I be worried? I'm scared that someone might be doing this and I don't want to be banned or penalized.

try to find out who shared your site and wich url was shared... i don't think you wil be hurt...

Try searching twitter for url of your website, hope it helps

There is no need to worry. But to make it sure you should find out the profiles where your website is being shared. This can be a positive aspect for you as you will find some new followers those have interest in your website. So track them and target them if they seems to be worthy for you.
