There will be plenty of activities to do... you could always slide up to Laos as well... just relax and go with the flow... take an overnight train up north to CMai/CRai and check out the hill tribes. The girls that work (as English speaking tourists helpers - free) in Hua Lampong train station can help you figure out some place to go if you like to be spontaneous. Do your reading/research before you go otherwise, you can become bewildered just like many on BHW! don't stay in BKK too long. Have a blast!

Yes:
1. I recommend Koh Chang island which is just a few hours from bangkok and quiet / peaceful compared to the crazy tourist islands.
2. I say you MUST visit Riley beach which is at Krabi. (one of the amazing places on earth).
3. I recommend visiting PAI which is in the north of Thailand and very nice.
4. Pattaya is a cool hookers hangout. Worth 3 nights.
If you have time visit Laos which I think is unbelievable.

I also live here now for 5 years. But I live far away from the touristic areas like Pattaya etc. (I'm in the north to the border to Myanmar).
But I also agree with some posters here: if you want girls and party (as cheap as possible): Pattaya, if you want girls and party, but normal prices (still not really expensive): Koh Samui, Phuket, Hua Hin etc., if you're in bangkok and like girls and party: Patpong, Sukhomvit, Nana,
If you want to visit the north: Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai (really nice areas).
If you're not that much behind girls but nice partys (including trance, goa etc.): Koh Phangan. If a relaxed, inexpensive island holiday: Koh Chang
If you like to smoke some nice things make you fly sometimes and also want girls and party give it a chance and check out Cambodia (Phnom Penh and at the seaside Sihanopukville). I also lived there for 1 1/2 years and i have to say, it is by far not developed like Thailand (still a real third world country), but you can do what you want and as the US-Dollar has crashed to the Thai baht (still about 1 year ago 1 USD 39 Baht, now 1 USD 29-30 Baht) maybe Cambodia is cheaper, as "their currency" is mainly the US-$.

where are u , mae song hong , or C.Mai / C.rai .. ?? im in korat, and yes got a place in pattaya lol holidays are a must in pattaya.
