I recently bought a domain that I 301 redirected to my main domain. Now I get bounced visits from a range of domains (gmail, youtube, saas sites, even pubmed and sciencedirect) at the same time every day...

I just don't get it... What's in it for them to do that, and does it benefit me in any way?

What’s the domain’s history? Maybe it used to be part of a spam network – and this is just leftover traffic.

You can simply block it through Cloudflare.

I think it was, it was previously linked to a thai gambling site...

But I got it because of the good domain match and the high DA it still has...

question is, will it hurt my main domain?

Hello!
How are you?
It's fake traffic (referrer spam) and doesn't help you
Best to block it.

It sounds like someone is using your redirected domain for "referrer spam"- basically sending fake traffic through known sites to manipulate analytics or hide their real source. It's does't benefit you and could mess with your site's data, so it's best to monitor and block suspicious referrers.

where can I get someone to do refferer spam for my site then? Sounds profitable lol

Looks like the old domain was used for fake traffic or bot activity. Now that you 301 redirected it, you are getting leftover bot visits. It does not really help your site and can mess up your traffic stats.
