Viruses, Trojans how do you protect yourself ?

I would like to ask you guys how do you protect yourself?

1.Best tools for testing your computer for trojans, viruses ect.
(if they already there)

2.Best web adress tools, or other tools for testing unknown files
(before download).

thx for any hint.

If you want something free AVG is what I use and it works fine.
 
Go and get AVG if you google it you can download if free from there site.
 
you get what you pay for when you use free antivirus programs.

i've used almost every antivirus out there and the one that still prevails is Kaspersky Internet Security.
 
OIn the windows boxes I use AVG and Clamavis...

Of course, I use a proxy/firewall as well and it scrubs with Clamavis as well.

There are many products that will get the job done for you. Just don't rely on a single one. Think like the military and put up a layered defense.

Of course, using MAC and Linux systems as much as possible really makes it much easier.

always and forever mcafee :) even if is paid is far away best security tool ever been made .
 
Norton never (used years ...) or MacFee, now use a solution, which already gave me guarantees of being the best, at least for now, and even paid for the first time, Avira Premium Security Suite, which uses a small network unfortunately use XP Pro, Linux advise you, ...
 
Running some variant of Linux is probably the safest way to browse, but in the real world we all use Windows at some point in the day.
I have liked Eset Nod32 for a while now. Its not free, but its good. Lately I have also been using ClamWin, Avira, AVG, MalwareBytes, Spybot Search and Destroy, and Adaware.
If I need to repair something already infected, the only way to go is to either put the hard drive in another uninfected computer and scan or use a boot disk like Hiren's. If you are using a boot disk, make sure to update the virus signatures.
 
I would have to agree with budd. Avast Free Home edition is what I use for my pc. I would also recommend using spybot search and destroy.
 
I would do some research, all your going to get here are opinions and some bad advice. Google some 3rd party testing to see the real results.
 
Im on Windows and i don't use any antivirus. Only Windows FW is enabled. I don't need the AV and my PC is clean. I never used any. They just eat CPU resources.

I don't fckng care if you believe it or not.
 
I use symantec endpoint protection and malwarebytes(free software) along with noscript for firefox browser. Better to eat cpu resources than have some other worm eating your cpu resources ;)
