Alright, so this is definitely an option while I'm blocked from a couple select sites and so that I'm not sucking my own bandwidth when I use BT

But.. what's a good VPN if anyone happens to know one off hand.
Do they only provide you with one IP address or can it be changed?

I would just use Proxies or Tor but I've been trying to find a working one (with both) for 2 hours now.. so I want to look into VPN since my cable company stuck us with a Static IP and I called to look into a Dynamic IP (If they can even do this) and I was on hold for an hour and a half so I hung up.

Buy cheap vps accounts. You can either install openvpn , or the easy route would be to use bitvise tunnelier and set it up to tunnel connections through ssh via socks5. With vpn services you're going to find them rate limited, pay more than it's worth, etc..

Using a vpn with BT, you're still using your connection.. it's just tunneled through a third point before hitting the intarwebz. It's like Your computer -> cable co -> vpn -> bt luserz.

Generally speaking, you will get 1 static IP address, with the option of buying more for whatever they charge per month. the avg is $1 per ip in blocks of 8.

I doubt you'll find a provider that will offer dynamic IP addresses. Sorry mate.

Well I want to run torrents so that's pretty much worthless if they only provide one IP.

Most vps providers off multiple ips for a price per ip. You would have to configure the ips on the server as well as configure bitvise to bind the outgoing ip. i recently setup a machine with 8129 ips using squid proxy. That was fun

vpn = virtual private network. it's a network tunnel where your connections go through to another server, like a proxy except not.
bt = bit torrent........
