Virtual PC whats the best?

I've been using MS Virtual PC 2007 with no problems. Great for virus checking :D

Microsoft Virtual PC is free. It works great, fast and you can count on its stability. VMware player is a good virtual program also.

I'm not being a cock, but i can't ever honestly recall Microsoft making something i can hand on heart say is fast and has stability you can count on, especially Operating Systems anyway! :)

Edit: No, sorry, i just re-read it and i am being a cock, but MS isn't renowned for stability and speed. :D

I recently decided to set up a development environment on my laptop for work as I am not really in the office anymore and chose to go with vmware which seems to be the tool of choice. Was very easy to set up, install then load up your operating systems. There are a couple of security settings you might have to play with and allow shared folders etc but all in all very simple and easy!

VirtualBox is the handy tool to work with virtual machines. It's easy to me for everything.

vmware is marketleader, most probably most compatible and runs on many OS.
They also got a set of free versions for non commercial use

I recommend Vmware. Used Virtualbox before but had to much problems with it when creating multiple virtual network segments.

If you want basic virtual environment--> virtualbox
If you want more advanced features, stability etc-->vmware

I like virtualpc because of the standalone windows and real-time monitor resizing. But for emulating linux machines or macos you should go with vmware.

Check out vmware its probably the best to use with windows, and vmware fusion for the mac, just my opinion others will say different im sure.

I agree. I use VM Fusion and it's great! I have used bootcamp (major pain to reboot cuz I like to do all my work if possible on mac and have windows on the side) and I have used parallels. Wasn't very happy with that.
So far, VM Fusion seems to be the best I have tried.

just found out VMware free version cannot create the virtual PC i think

update here: vmware server 2.0 included also remote console via web-interface, this is fantastic. and free.

I tried it out and must say there is no way more easier than vmware server.

Im also voting for vmware... but setup on a bootcamp partition because I hate halving my system resources

VMWare Workstation is great. If needed, I will post in a bit in the Download section, just waiting for my Media Fire to upload it. Sooo Slow.

vmware is top of the line. I use virtual pc for ms stuff at work like SQL and server and it sucks. Very slow and it does not pass your hardware configuration. Example: virtual pc can not run wow because even if you have a great video card the virtual pc only see's a generic turd without directx. Vmware passes your real hardware to the guest OS and can run wow and any other programs.

FYI: wow runs slow as crap but functions.

If it's running slow, you just need to configure your Virtual Machine to use up more system resources, more memory, etc. Everything should run great. also make sure you have VM tools installed on the Virtual machine.

Here's the VMWare Workstation 6.5.0.118166 Download:
