I use them all the time. VMware player is hard to beat for a windows host. On Linux I like to use Virtual Box.

I've used VMWare before, it's great; although I just use my laptop to run automated tasks. :)

I use Parallels. But I think it's only for OSX.

I've used VMware Workstation on my laptop...it's definitely a great tool for home usage. Been playing with ESX server from VMware at work for over a year now...if you have access to server's it is definitely the way to go.

VMware is one of the best, VirtualBox has nice features (RDP connection and headless operation), but I appriciate Qemu, as it is almost multiplatform, easy to hack, and has fuss-less installation.

I use Virtual PC, runs well enough and is free, can't complain at all.

One tip is that you should put your virtual machines on a seperate harddisk to your host OS
