In all honesty, I only come to BHW looking for ways to expand my reach as an entity on social media. I'm not here to make money...I'm just trying to get more people to see my content on the web and expand as an artist.

That being said, I'm wondering about Youtube views and what exactly is required to make a video "go viral", in terms of it continually bringing views and comments after the initial boost of purchased views. I know Retention views are good for your video's page ranking but what else are they good for?

I usual buy from Skittles or BigBuddy, and I try to always get High Retention, but does that matter when making an attempt to get a video viral soon after it is posted? \

Could I just blast it with say 1M regular (30 sec) views (adding some comments and likes) as soon as it's posted and hope for the best? Or do high retention views get more attention from Youtube's system, making it more likely to get featured on their homepage?

Also, where and how can I get backlinks for YT videos, and how important are they when looking at the big picture of a "viral video"?

Thanks,
TWB

Hey you can do some bunch amount of social blasts such as tweets, fb shares, etc..Also you can buy backlinks from bst section of this forum. Apart from like, views and comments you can try to get some bunch amount of followers to your channel.

What he said. You really want to focus on getting your video shared by others "real people" on various social platforms. That will really help you out.

Ok Thanks! So will the backlinks people sell for websites work for a Youtube video? Also can anyone answer the Reg view VS Retention view question?

Thanks

First of all build your video for humans. If you put up a junk video and expecting it to go viral just because you have access to some IM tools then it's not going to last or even work.

First of, make a good video.

Optimize the video

Share them on social networking sites, make some social signals and it could probably kick start from there.

I don't really recommend buying views anymore because YT has upgraded their algo and will continue to keep an eye on it.

For backlink you can link from related videos, comments, blog networks, web 2.0s and various others..

Yes, the backlinks works for website will also work for youtube video, there's no special backlinks available for youtube video. As far as i know, retention views are high quality views, you can try mix up both regular and high retention views.

Okay, thanks guys :) And yeah John, like I said. I'm only trying to expand with my content (songs, comedy, magic) But everyone knows viral videos are good content + ALOT of luck. With all the stuff being uploaded to Youtube nowadays, It's basically impossible to get noticed without promoting the crap out of your stuff.

the only word that matters here is followers, REAL followers.
buying fake views is pointless.
do you have money?
if so, then come up with a real marketing plan, find your budget, and get to WORK.
the days of producing a shitty video and blasting it with views are over, G is more intelligent than you are.

I would suggest you to play the safe game and make the snowball effect by posting the video on forums, social networks etc. But if you have budget, go with PPC/PPM and target the interested audience who could share the video if it really is interesting.
