Hello everyone, I just thought I'd have a quick word, which may be "of value" or interest to some people.

A few months ago, creating a viral page was pretty simple - invite thousands of people, get them to suggest their friends and BAM, the ball was rolling, and you would hit the viral stage.

Facebook restricted the maximum amount of invites which could be sent, this effected the viral element of pages, but was still possible.

Then many facebook like sites popped up everywhere - these seemed like the next step and proved to be very able to grow quickly.

Now with the latest facebook changes of restricting invites to admin only, making a page viral has become more and more of an issue. It is still possible, but just takes luck, the right skill, or for you to be know what your doing.

I saw a page today, which had 600 or so fans. It was to do with the world "ending", and was humorous. I refreshed the page 30 seconds later, and it has 3,500 LIKES - thats around 2,900 likes within 30 seconds. I refreshed again and it had grew 300 more in the space of 5 seconds.

I was completely amazed, simply because I was watching it grow, rather than "looking at a page that was a day old with 100,000 fans". I returned 20 minutes later to see it had hit 20,000 likes. Another 3 hours passed and it was on 65,000 likes. It currently stands at over 135,000! These are real people, as the status updates has received thousands of comments and hundreds of likes.

I just thought I'd remind people that it is possible to make a page go insanely viral. And, if a page doesn't work the first time, create another - its free and doesn't take long. Keep trying again and again. Arrange the title of the page differently or make a completely different title.

What I'm saying is that it doesn't take thousands of $$$ of advertising to make a page grow - You just need to make something unique, appealing and different.

Of course, you can't always do this - for example if you're running a company then your page may not run as viral. But if you are looking for a viral page; go for a funny one, that is aimed at a wide audience.

Just a quick heads up! :)

Thats spot on. Basically a reminder, under all of the new methods, that some of the original ones still work.

Weird, I had one in a similar niche go quite viral. Nearly got to 100k. I'm still doing the old shit :)

Haven't heard from you in ages Pete!

The question is how!? with the new systems in place... I have a very humorous and unique idea that I just started as a facebook page 5 days ago called "What Bitches Love" It already has 750+ "Likes" and grows steadily day to day with the addition of new content, but by no means is it viral... It has the potential with its humorous play on words and comical innuendos but I need a strong base of about 5,000-10,000 people for this to happen any advice?

The answer is because the buzz around the world was that the world will end on May 21st 2011. Simple funny pages that aren't really about anything still have potential just not nearly as much as one riding some trending keyword traffic since everyone's thinking about it, they are more likely to click it. Lots of this info on the forums somewhere.

Fan page invite function doesn't work for a couple of weeks already. If you're admin of a fan page try to invite some people and you notice they won't get any notification whatsoever. It's broken and FB is working on it.

I was amazed 3 days ago when i saw brand new fan page getting 200k fans within 24hrs. It was a blackhat script running on an external page which automatically liked various fan pages + posting on users wall. Most amazing script i have seen so far.

Well it still works. Sometimes theres no need to update to the latest tricks - just use the old ones!

Basically, as plouyd said, when a page relates to something hot, in the news or/and trendy, people are most likely going to be able to relate to it because they have heard about it, and may have been in their general conversation throughout the day.

As for your page, yes it is humorous, but not something that everyones talking about. You've got to get a good mix - not all the time, but it helps.
