VIP only viewable posts in every section.

I have an idea to revive the Jr VIP community and encourage discussions safe from Google's eyes.

I would like every section on these forums (the blackhat section, the whitehat section, the blackhat tools section, etc) to have the option when posting a thread as a VIP to check off a box that makes the thread ONLY visible to Jr VIPs.

This way Jr VIPs can make threads outside the VIP forums that are only visible to Jr VIPs (since even VIPs rarely seem to visit the VIP sections anymore). The posts couldn't be seen or posted in by non-VIP members or Google, and wouldn't spam up the sections for other members. But it would ENCOURAGE more members to BUY a Jr VIP membership to get in on these useful discussions.

Please consider this idea.

How is that any different from the current situation? His point is that rather than just the Jr VIP-only section of the forum, have it so you can have threads in the usual forums designated as Jr VIP so we can see 'em as we're browsing the general parts of the site rather than having to make a concerted effort to go to a different subforum.

That might be easier said than done from a programming perspective. I don't know if the capability is there in this forum software to lock out per thread based on a universal flag. Maybe so...

But I don't think it's gonna do squat really. I mean if you're someone who WANTS to share something with JR VIP's, WTF is the big deal about clicking on one particular section before you post it?

I think it's great that you're looking for ways to revive the JR. VIP community. Just don't think this is a realistic one.

I'm not sure how open the vbulletin source code is, but unless BHW has good developers I don't see this happening in the near future. Then again, I have no idea regarding the amount of devpower BHW has to wield. Seems to be too much effort for too little reward IMO.

if google really wants to monitor BHW , will they be limiting themselves to the content or information which are being indexed?

You're not arguing against the OP's point though. If you have a problem with Jr VIP existing at all that's a completely separate subject.

The problem with the Jr VIP now is that nobody bothers to visit it and what little posts there are go in one main section.

Having VIP-Exclusive threads in any section would allow the VIP community to more easily share methods, advice, and info without putting it out in the open. It would also make it easier for other Jr VIPs to come across these threads since they wouldn't have to bother going to an entirely separate section.

The only question is how hard it is to have locked/invisible threads within existing sections. But since BHW makes money selling memberships it makes sense to me that offering more value like this would make sales of memberships go up and benefit the owners.

I don't get it. If you want to post a private post, why not just post in the private forum? All you would get is broken threads where some replies are visible and others aren't. Then that guy would forget to click the private checkbox and expose the post/reply/thread.

Doesn't sound like a good idea to me. You have a private forum. Just post in it then. There are so many JrVIPs it's not like it's exclusive anymore. That's probably why no one posts in it.
