Hi, i see people using the word vine in there websites and youtubes etc.. But isnt this trademarked and can be taken down?

I dont understand whats the point in putting all your effort into something if one day it can be taken away from you for using the name?

For example ive seen ''vine compilations'' surely this is against their trademark policy?

Or can you use this as long as you give credit for videos?

Please someone clear this up for me! I used iPhone once and they took it away from me so im a little sceptical on these things lol

I don't have the Vine app but I believe reading their TOS will help you. They should explain there regarding copyright and trademark concerns.

I tried reading it but i still am not sure thats why i posted here. Instagrams terms are very clear where as vines are not

There are a lot of trademark/copyright infringed materials on youtube, but nothing gonna happen until the rights holder report the videos.

Maybe Vine takes them as free promotion for now but nobody knows about tomorrow.

Do you think they care about that right now? They will wait till they hit a big margin of users before implementing strict regulations but now with Instagram video I see vine being left behind in dirt.

I would use it but i think theres a good chance it will just get filed against.. But i dont know.. there tos aint clear

When creating a product, app, website, or other service that uses or interacts with Vine, use a unique name, logo and design that can?t be confused with the Vine brand. You should not apply for any trademarks or domains that include the Vine name or any other variations of Vine that could be confusingly similar.
From https://vine.co/logo

One of the first third party Vine web sites renamed from vinepeek to vpeeker - https://twitter.com/madebypxi/status/334587987679657984

But there are web sites which does not respect this, like vineflip, vinescope, vinebox, .... So I guess that they don't waste their time with this issue now. But if you wanna do long term then respecting this trademark policy can help you in the future (public Vine API etc.).
