I'm seeing TV ads for this website for a couple weeks now. I have never seen a video sharing site advertise themselves on TV. I don't remember the last time Youtube or Dailymotion did this.

Does this mean Vimeo is suffering or what?

Companies advertise for a variety of reasons, in this case, probably for the reason of expansion of number of users,
then expect an announcement in a few months time for increased costs etc... its a thing called
MARKETING :)

There are YouTube commercials on TV now, and if I remember correctly there were a few when they were starting out. They publicize one YouToobface acting quirky and relatable, and at the end it shows their channel getting bunch of subs.

We're in the "You can be a celebrity too!" phase of culture. I'd give some examples, but first, let me take a selfie.

I love Vimeo, I've never seen one of their commercials though, I need to watch more TV. I hope they get more exposure and uploads.

Vimeo is great. I think they are doing quite well if they can advertise on TV ;)

Well, Vimeo has always been the place to go if you're a videographer. People use the forums to get a grasp on new techniques and such, can't blame them! As far as the marketing goes I think they're doing a good job, it's like when you see an album being promoted on TV and you just know it's going to sell like hot cakes.
