Has anyone had any experience uploading TV episodes and making any money off of it? I see a lot of these and there's usually a ton of ads so I assume they're profitable. Plus since it's a series they will be visiting multiple pages to watch all of the episodes. The only thing is that I'm sure the media companies will come down hard on your website. If you tried this what did you use to upload your videos?

Just thinking of ideas and trying to learn :p

Just started doing this, however instead of using copyrighted media I am using YT videos. I have a unique twist I have put on this, not making any money yet cause I literally started a few days ago, however I am certain this will be very profitable. I wouldn't recommend getting into trying to make money off of copyrighted media cause it will be an endless struggle, try using the same concept just with your own twist. They key is taking the concept and duplicating the concept with your own unique twist to it, something no one else is doing.

I'm interested in seeing how well your model works. I will probably PM you when I have the necessary 15 posts later on ;).

How do all these other sites keep up their content and advertisers? Such as (edit: don't think I'm supposed to talk about exact web domains but you get the jist) and whatnot.

good luck with keeping them on, on YT it would be more safe but they still will be deleted and since its copyrighted stuff you won't be able to cash in on them with YT , a way would be to upload a few episodes on YT and tell them they can watch the rest on your site.

How about hosting the video directly off of my website but have an add open the first time you click play on it? I've seen this method around quite a bit.

I'm sorry if I sound completely oblivious to all of this.

Do not host the actual video file on your server/website or you'll be vulnerable. Just LINK to it from your website. Or get offshore hosting, which basically means your web hosting is in a country with less strict internet laws, such as Ukraine, Sweden, Netherlands... you get the point. In business with copyrighted content, it is key to keep yourself safe.
