Video streaming, no ads, DMCA avoid

I'm in a slightly different position than many of the people here — I have zero interest in making money or putting up ads on my streaming site. I just want to share videos for free that should be free to begin with:

I care about:

- streaming thousands of videos (TBs of them!)
- DMCA ignore
- subtitle support

I'm willing to pay to make this happen, but didn't know what solutions y'all would recommend in terms of domain and web hosting, video storage, and streaming containers and options. I've been using a plex server along with google drive storage, but would rather people be able to stream without jumping through hoops and I'm tired of the bandwidth limits from google.

See how other are doing, where they host. If you are going to stream TBs, you are looking at a very costly invoice. How you are going to support on the long term, if you don't put ads?
 
I won't be streaming TBs, but rather need to have access to TBs of storage to stream from (a large library), if that makes sense!

Yeah, which ends up in streaming TBs (everytime somebody watches 1MB, 1GB or 1TB of your video, this video's data is streamed on your website). There are dedicated servers that allow this. But the real problem is if you're going to stream DMCA sensitive content, you need to host your server in a place that you can't get arrested for DMCA reported content.

I found this to be pretty impossible during my search, since copyrighted content is taken pretty serious in the world (I believe it's nonsense, but that aside...) it will be hard to find a hosting company that allows it. Goodluck nevertheless :P
 
Search the marketplace, there are a few sellers that offer what you need. If you don't find, open a WTB thread. But, what's the point of storing 100 TB of data for example, if no one views it? Either way what you need, might cost ~$1000-1500.

I disagree, there's plenty of dedi's with 4x 16TB SATA for example that are way below that price range.

He needs a few servers, hosting the data and streaming it. Hetzner has the cheapest storage last time I checked 14 x 16 TB @ 370 EUR. He will also need a streaming server and probably one for encoding, and another one for the website. He can also use a CDN, so he can forget about the streaming server.

A cheaper solution is to find a datacenter for colocation and ship in the hardware. Much cheaper on the long term.

You can easily stream from your dedi you host video's on if you have dedicated bandwitdh or plan to keep it small, like OP said. And 14x16TB for €370 doesn't make sense, but you may be right, idk ^^
 
You need a dedicated server. You can check zakservers.com. They have servers for streaming and they are offshore provider.
 
Its not cheap solution, the costs will not let you run the production in longer run.
lets just say 4x16tb with raid10 and at least 48 threads server and 128gb Memory and 10Gbps dedicated bandwidth will cost you a lot, specially in offshore locations where dmca is ignored.
 
Get a short list of providers and start contacting them one by one. Do explain everything in detail what you are going to have and which sense of ignorance you can expect.
Your own experience will help you to acknowledge which provider is right for you.

Actually, every streamer we ever had always takes a 10Gbps server, as anything less doesn't work for them. With that in mind, $1000 is a reasonable price, as the 10G is what makes up most of the cost in this case.

All depends on how many visitors your streaming website gets.
 
What? Video streaming hosting with Web Hosting it won't end good if you are planning use it as storage!

You need a dedicated server for that, if you want to start is ok to embed and using web hosting. If you want to storage and have many storage and upgrade then the best is Dedicated Server, no matter what.

Dedicated server is the best way to get thousands of TBs (if is something unsual you may need to contact support or open a ticket support to request custom dedicated server which some providers do that)

How you plan to earn money to pay the servers without ads? Without ads looks very nice, but you can't stay paying €€ without ads... Your project will go down easily, unless you are rich man and 50-200€ per month is nothing for you, then is everything ok. If you can afford it go for it without ads.

If you can't afford, you will need ads or at least affiliates...

Terrahost is used by Fmovies for eg you can get 144TB for 365/month, packetbunker.com by vudeo.io and is DMCA ignored according to their website! But it'll cost a lot.

Otherwise google "wjunction file hosts", there is plenty of free video hosters but there will be DMCA

I'm not sure about streaming hosting services.
but for some secure, offshore, dmca-ignored domain registrars and hosting providers you can try some from this list.

You'll need a dedicated server from notorious datacenter like packetip, colocrossing, or any one from hong kong, or russia?
 
Maybe start with small dedi and less storage ? You sure You get enough profit to cover monthly billing ?

Would streamsb work to host a lot of adult content for free?
