I'm getting some articles done and I'd like to link to a documentary as well.

The documentary is a BBC episode of "horizon", I'd rather not upload to youtube and deal with dmca notices and worry about having the video offline etc.

The site it would be on would be an amazon store.

I got enough bandwidth and server ressources to serve the streams, however, I'm not sure this is a good idea yet. I guess I could always just provide the previews of the episode.

You can get takedown notices just as easily if you host on your own site and I bet BBC has people searching the web to find people they can report. Your safest bet is to provide previews that are short enough to fall under fair use laws or to find someone else who already has the video up and embed that (letting them deal with DMCA issues).

Yeah, but if I somehow manage to avoid indexing the video on my site, it would be very difficult for them to find it.

However, if I am directly hosting the content so it might be more trouble.

I think I might include a preview on the site and offer the links to the full episode via email submit. might work.
