Where do Udemy, Skillshare, and Domestika host their content, specifically video content? I am considering to create a site for training course creator or a niche market in my country. Thanks for your help.

Those sites you mentioned maintain their own content servers. You probably don't want to build one and can look at Vimeo.

Thanks.

Say 300-500 training entrepreneurs are there. They will create 3-5 courses and each of them will be 100+ gb. What it is involved in creating a content server like them but at a lower scale?

You will need a server with many 16tb drives to store that many files,

Thanks.

It's not merely the servers. You will need to build a lot more tech to ensure a smooth delivery. Video content is a very difficult thing to get right.

If you have seen the quality of videos on twitter and reddit, you know that even these sites are struggling to get it right. Go for a custom solution only if you have a solid business case for it.

I don't know if links are allowed on this forum, but here's some more info: https://www.quora.com/How-could-I-build-a-video-hosting-service/answer/Stuart-Bowness?ch=15&oid=941325&share=bee1a165&srid=hHeNB&target_type=answer

I don't think they delegate their hosting management to a third party. They're really reputable companies. When you operate on such a scale, you want to have control over the infrastructure that you depend on.

As for time-tested and trusted web hosts, can draw your attention to hostingsource.com, dreamhost.com and also digitalserver.com.mx web hosts.
Your sites will get loaded lightning fast and applications run far better as compared to any other hosting environment.

Skillshare and Udemy have their own video hosting infrastructure. Never heard of Domestika.

Usually the video infrastructure is on AWS s3 + cloudfront or equivalent services. It's so common AWS even has a guide on it
https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonS...al-s3-cloudfront-route53-video-streaming.html
If you really want to get at the scale of SkillShare or Udemy, this is the way. Get a bunch of very skilled devs with experience in video streaming services and roll out your own video infrastructure.

This is ofcourse expensive af and probably out of your budget too. You would use third party video streaming providers like Vimeo if you plan a far smaller scale and they are cheaper in the beginning.

In the long run tho, if and when you reach scales of say SkillShare or Udemy, custom is ofcourse cheaper, better and more effecient.

Use Vimeo, Dailymotion or Vk for hosting.
