You can use Filmora, it is convenient software for beginners.PowerDirect is also another top video editor software but its price is little bit high.

I'm replying late here but totally agree with mates. Just go with majority and use Song Vegas Pro and yes it is perfect for window 8 and for beginners as well.

Adobe Premier is solid and integrates nicely with Photoshop and Illustrator. Price for Premier is about $800. If you're looking for something simple, you could use Cyberlink Powerdirector - very easy to use and only $99 retail.

The best ranking video editing software's are Windows Movie Maker , VirtualDub ,Wax,Avidemux ,ZS4 Video Editor ,Movica etc. You can use any one which will reasonable for you.

Most of these dudes suggesting random apps that in the pro fields are not used.

Premiere, Vegas, thats is it. Since you are starting off I would say premiere.

Windows movie maker for basics..
For advanced stuff, i use Pinnacle studio..

sony vegas for general editing and after effects for vfxs is what i recommend

For basic video editing use Camtasia
than move to advance side with premier and after effects in combination

For basic level, you should really go with MS Movie Maker. It's free and easy.
Also Filmora.

Adobe premiere pro is the way to go, lots or great features, provides versitility and quality at the same time. Highly recommended for video editing purposes.
