I'd say Sony Vegas for creating some new would be fine. And there are plenty of guides on it so it won't be a problem to get in.

I would suggest Sony Vegas as it has alot of features and is fairly easy to learn.

Has anyone else had any success creating a digital news room? Would love to hear some advice from someone who runs a podcast or a news show. Thanks!

    - Adobe Premiere
    - Sony Vegas
    - DaVinci Resolve (Total Free)
    - Final Cut Pro
Pick one of them! They're pretty cool... :)

    Adobe Premiere + After Effects
    Sony Vegas
DaVinci Resolve (has nice colour correction tools)
    Windows Movie Maker (just kidding)

    I always say,
start off with Sony Vegas and work your way up to Premiere/After Effects.

The station I work at uses AVID Newscutter- basically Media Composer but w/ features for other news apps. I swear by Media Composer, even after Premiere, just because of it's lightning-quick workflow. That's coming from a job that prioritizes expediency. Once you get the hang of it you can churn out content quick.
