After spending lots of money on using all kinds of video gear over the years, I just wanted to share my shortlist of preferred tools and resources for creating videos. Feel free to add your own to this thread...

Note: all links below are direct (non aff). And stuff I actually use.

    1. Simple/quick and dirty videos.
    adobe spark!
If you haven't used it, it's excellent. And free! Great alternative to explainer videos and it is web based or available on iOS as app.

    2. Editing.
    Screen flow
I'm on mac. And have the expensive editors, but I prefer screenflow. Very easy to use.

    3. Screencast.
    See above (screenflow)

    4. Front facing video: camera
iPhone. I already have it, it just makes life easier. But... a microphone is a good idea. The Easton lapel mic for iPhones is great and available on Amazon for pretty cheap.

    5. More microphones.
For screencast/computer audio: blue yeti with swing arm and pop filter is my choice.

    Swing arm:

For travel/portability : Samson go mic is excellent:

    6. Music tracks
Check out teknoaxe. Free. Plenty of options!

    7. Intro/outros
    Get them on fiverr

    8. Lighting.
Free: natural light outside is the way to go

Not free: 3 point lighting. My setup includes 2 soft box lights (can be found on amazon for under $100 for a pair) that go on peripheral of frame. And 1 diva ring light (about $100 on Amazon) in the center.

Cheap: get a portable dimmable LED ($30-50 on Amazon)

    9. Mounting gear.
Tripod with phone mount (under $20) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XI87KV8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_

Clip mount for phone (under $10):

    Car window mount (about $12):

    10. Acoustic tiles (if you do lots of recording and have too many hard surfaces):

    Hope this is useful!
    • Thanks Thanks x 3
